Slovak Prime Minister to Inform Ursula von der Leyen that Global Leaders View the EU with Skepticism

Bratislava – On Monday, Slovak Prime Minister Robert Fico (Smer-SD) held a phone conversation with German Federal Chancellor Friedrich Merz. Fico announced that he would send an open letter to European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen on Tuesday, which he plans to share with all prime ministers and heads of EU member states. This was reported by the Press and Information Department of the Slovak Government Office.

Fico expressed that world leaders do not fully regard the EU seriously, attributing this to “nonsensical climate goals and suicidal migration policy.”

“I proposed several solutions to the Federal Chancellor and hope he will visit Slovakia soon, as he promised. There are important topics to discuss,” Fico remarked. He highlighted that hundreds of German companies operate in Slovakia, making the Slovak economy significantly reliant on German economic conditions due to the high concentration of car manufacturing.

The Prime Minister also mentioned that he and Merz discussed the ongoing “serious international situation.” He shared insights from his conversation with US President Donald Trump and Secretary of State Marco Rubio, which took place on January 17 at Trump’s Mar-a-Lago residence in Palm Beach, Florida.

“The President of the USA is clearly focused on the national interests of the USA. If the EU were to act similarly, we would find ourselves in a vastly different position than we are now,” Fico asserted, emphasizing that the European Union is not taken seriously by world leaders.

Fico and Trump covered various topics during their meeting in Florida, including the war in Ukraine, the European Union, and bilateral relations, according to the Slovak Government Office. (19 January)

“World leaders do not take the EU completely seriously, which can be attributed to nonsensical climate goals and suicidal migration policy.” Robert Fico

  1. Looks like Fico’s got the inside scoop on why the EU’s not exactly the life of the party. Maybe if they served a pint at those meetings, they’d get a bit more respect, eh? 🍻

So, Fico’s got the memo that the EU isn’t exactly the belle of the ball, eh? Maybe next time he should just send a postcard instead of an open letter, saves time and avoids the whole “serious” business vibe. 😏✌️

Seems like Fico’s got the inside scoop on global skepticism—who knew climate goals and migration could be so *controversial*! 😂 Maybe he should send a postcard instead, could be less “nonsensical”, eh?

So, Fico thinks writing a letter will change world leaders’ minds about the EU? Brilliant strategy—next, he’ll suggest a bake sale for world peace. 😂📜

Looks like Fico’s about to pen a love letter to Ursula, hoping that’ll win the EU some street cred! 😂 Maybe he should just send a postcard instead – less emotional baggage, innit?

Funny how world leaders find the EU a bit of a joke. Maybe if they swapped their climate goals for a pint and a good laugh, they’d get more respect! 🍻😂

So, Fico’s sending a love letter to Ursula? Brilliant strategy—because nothing screams “serious” like a group of leaders airing their grievances in a chatty little letter! 😂
