
Brussels – António Costa, President of the European Council, will be in Amman on Thursday for the inaugural summit between the European Union (EU) and Lebanon. He will be accompanied by Ursula von der Leyen, President of the European Commission, during this trip to Libya and Syria.
The former Prime Minister of Portugal and the President of the European Commission will depart for Jordan after attending the ceremony in Nicosia on Wednesday, which marks the beginning of Cyprus’s EU presidency for the period from January 1 to June 30.
On Thursday, Costa and Von der Leyen will attend the first EU-Jordan summit in Amman, and they will then travel to Syria the following day for a meeting with President Ahmed al-Sharaa in Damascus. Their itinerary also includes a visit to Lebanon to meet with President Joseph Aoun in Beirut.
This Tuesday, António Costa and Ursula von der Leyen will participate in a meeting in Paris with leaders from the Coalition of the Willing for Ukraine. (01/05/26)
