Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu signed a joint declaration with Somaliland President Abdirahman Mohamed Abdullah as part of the Abraham Accords, agreements aimed at establishing ties between Israel and Arab nations, according to AP. Netanyahu is scheduled to meet U.S. President Donald Trump on Monday in Florida. The New York Post reported that Trump stated he would not recognize Somaliland’s independence as Israel did. The U.S. State Department affirmed its recognition of Somalia’s territorial integrity, including Somaliland. Qatar criticized the declaration as a unilateral action against international law. The African Union opposed any recognition of Somaliland without explicitly mentioning Israel. The European External Action Service reiterated the importance of Somalia’s unity and sovereignty, advocating for meaningful dialogue between Somalia and Somaliland.

So, just when you thought geopolitics couldn’t get any more convoluted, Israel decides to play footsie with Somaliland while the rest of the world shakes its head – classic! 🤦♂️ It’s like watching a game of chess played by toddlers, but hey, at least it keeps the diplomats busy, right?

Typical, innit? Just when you think you’ve seen it all in the diplomatic circus, Netanyahu decides to throw Somaliland into the mix like a rogue olive in a martini. 🍸 Can’t wait to see how this plays out in the next round of international chess! 😏
