EU allocates additional billions in aid to Ukraine

Brussels (dpa) – The European Union has granted Ukraine an additional 2.3 billion euros in financial aid to support its public finances and administration, as stated by the European Commission.

Ukraine has been engaged in defense against Russia’s aggression for nearly four years.

Since the onset of the Russian invasion in February 2022, the EU and its member states have committed aid totaling hundreds of billions, encompassing military, financial, and refugee assistance.

The EU’s Ukraine Facility alone is allocated 50 billion euros, while approximately 18.1 billion euros is being provided through the Era Initiative, utilizing interest income from frozen Russian state assets held in the EU. (22 December)

Oh brilliant, just what we need—a few more billion tossed into the Ukrainian cauldron! 😏 At this rate, they’ll be able to fund a Eurovision entry that actually wins! 🎤💸

  2. Another day, another billion for Ukraine! Just what we need, right? Meanwhile, I’ll just be over here waiting for my share of the “interest income” from those frozen Russian assets… 😏💸

  3. Just what we needed, another 2.3 billion for Ukraine—because who doesn’t love tossing cash into a bottomless pit? 💸 At this rate, we’ll be throwing a grand party in Brussels to celebrate our generosity! 🎉

Just what we needed, more billions flying into the Ukrainian sky while our own pockets are getting lighter than a good pint in a dodgy pub. 🍺💸 Who knew “financial aid” was code for “let’s throw cash around like confetti”?

Just what we needed, another billions’ worth of ‘aid’ to keep things ticking in Ukraine while we’ve got our own bills to pay. Must be nice to have an endless supply of cash for a situation that seems to be on a never-ending loop… 😉💸

Just what we needed, more zeros on the check—because who wouldn’t want to throw billions at a conflict while the local baker can’t even keep the lights on? 🍞💸

Just what we needed, another round of financial generosity from the EU—because who doesn’t love playing Monopoly with real money? 💸 Hope they’ve got a solid strategy for that cash flow; after all, it’s not like we’re running a charity here, right? 😂

  17. Looks like the EU’s got a new favorite pastime: showering Ukraine with more cash than most of us see in a lifetime! 💸 Must be nice to have a bottomless piggy bank while the rest of us are just trying to pay for our morning espresso. ☕️
