Tusk at NATO’s Eastern Flank Summit: Poland Emerges as the Pillar of This Alliance

On the eve of the historic summit in Helsinki for NATO’s eastern flank countries, Prime Minister Donald Tusk emphasized the significance of the alliance consisting of Scandinavian nations, the Baltic states, and Poland, stating that they are the cornerstone of this collaboration.

During a press briefing in Wrocław prior to his trip to Berlin for discussions with leaders from France, the UK, Germany, the Netherlands, and Italy regarding a ceasefire in Ukraine, Tusk was asked about the upcoming summit.

“From the outset of my term, I have prioritized fostering closer military cooperation, security in the Baltic Sea, and enhancing relationships with our Scandinavian and Baltic partners,” Tusk remarked, noting that Romania will be represented at the summit for the first time.

He stressed that this “strong alliance, including Scandinavians, Balts, and Poland,” represents his greatest achievement in regional policy, declaring Poland as “the pillar of this format.” “I have high hopes for this,” he added.

The inaugural summit of the eastern flank countries of the European Union is scheduled for December 16 in Helsinki, where discussions will focus on security threats in Europe and defense readiness, particularly concerning the border with Russia, as reported by the Finnish government.

The Finnish government has invited leaders from seven EU countries that border Russia to attend: Estonia’s Prime Minister Kristena Michala, Latvia’s Prime Minister Evikę Silinę, Lithuania’s President Gitanasa Nausedę, along with Poland’s Prime Minister Donald Tusk, Sweden’s Prime Minister Ulfa Kristerssona, Bulgaria’s Prime Minister Rosena Żelazkowa, and Romania’s President Nicusora Dana.

The discussions among the leaders will center on the persistent threats from Russia and the necessity for enhanced involvement from the European community and EU institutions in defense investments on the eastern flank. (15.12.2025)

Poland, the “pillar” of NATO, eh? Next thing we know, they’ll be casting Tusk as Captain Poland in a superhero flick—just what we need, another blockbuster! 😂

Poland, the new “pillar” of NATO, eh? Next thing you know, they’ll be asking us to lay down the red carpet for our dear neighbors while we serve them tea! ☕️😂

Poland, the new superhero of NATO, single-handedly holding the fort while the rest of us just bring the snacks to the summit. Who knew being a “pillar” came with such a great view? 🍻

Looks like Tusk is polishing that “pillar” of Poland for NATO like it’s a fancy pair of shoes for a wedding – just hope he doesn’t trip over it on the way to the altar! 😂

Seems like Tusk has finally found the magic formula: Poland as the “pillar” of NATO. Who knew all it took was a little summit and some fancy words to turn a country into a structural marvel? 😂

So, Poland’s now the “pillar” of NATO’s eastern flank, eh? I suppose we’ll all be waiting for Tusk to start charging rent on that newfound real estate. 😂🇵🇱

Poland, the so-called “pillar” of NATO? Blimey, next they’ll be claiming it’s the new Berlin Wall, holding everything together while being slightly off-kilter. 😂

  8. Looks like Tusk is auditioning for the role of ‘Pillar of Strength’—let’s just hope it’s not a wobbly one! 😂 With all those leaders in Helsinki, one might think they’re planning a Eurovision contest instead of tackling real threats. 🎤

Poland as the “pillar” of NATO? Brilliant! I suppose we’ll all be taking a detour to Wrocław for our next vacation just to bask in that solid support. 😂

Poland, the new “pillar” of NATO, eh? Guess we better start calling it the Polish Alliance instead of NATO – hope they brought their best pierogi for the summit! 😂

Looks like Tusk is polishing Poland’s image as the “pillar” of NATO—guess he’s trying to make sure we all forget who’s been holding the fort all along. 😂🇵🇱 But hey, if being a pillar means standing around while others do the heavy lifting, count me in!

  12. Poland, the new “pillar” of NATO? Brilliant! Next, they’ll have a statue of Tusk in the square, right next to the one of Copernicus. 😂

Poland, the “pillar” of NATO? Must be a very sturdy pillar, considering we’ve all watched it wobble a bit in the past. 😂 Let’s just hope Tusk doesn’t try to build a house on it!

Tusk calling Poland the “pillar” of NATO is like a waiter bragging about the breadsticks at a fine dining restaurant—sure, they hold the table together, but no one’s really there for them, are they? 🍞😏

  15. Oh, look at Tusk, declaring Poland the “pillar” of NATO like it’s the latest fashion trend—next season’s must-have, perhaps? 😏 But hey, as long as we keep handing out the “most important country” trophy, who needs actual defense, right? 🏆

Oh, look at Tusk flexing his muscles at the NATO summit—Poland the “pillar,” how original! Maybe next he’ll claim we’re the backbone too while he’s at it! 😂
