Stricter Repatriation Policies and Approval for Hubs Mark a Turning Point in the EU

Brussels (ANSA) – Europe is intensifying its efforts to control migration. At the recent Justice and Home Affairs Council, the 27 member states approved three significant components of the legislative framework that supports the Migration Pact, including a major reform set to take effect next June. These components address regulations on returns, define safe third countries, and establish the EU list of safe countries of origin.

This tightening of regulations will legally permit the establishment of ‘return hubs’ in other countries, contingent upon meeting specific safety criteria for migrants. The approval of the Albania model is a significant step, allowing it to function not only as a registration center but also as a return center, which has been met with “satisfaction” from Minister Matteo Piantedosi.

According to a report from the EU executive, Italy is one of four countries required to receive (mandatory) solidarity from other member states. While capitals can choose between physically relocating a portion of migrants or offering financial contributions or alternative measures, reports indicate a strong preference for financial contributions to avoid taking in new migrants, although a surprising number of countries have expressed willingness to accept relocations as of December 8.

Typical EU brilliance—let’s just create ‘return hubs’ and pretend we’re solving anything. Oh, joy, more red tape and ‘safety criteria’ while we sip our espresso and pat each other on the back for being so progressive. 🇪🇺☕️

Just what we needed, more bureaucracy in the EU! 😏 Can’t wait to see how this ‘solidarity’ fund works out, it’s like giving a drunk a taxi voucher to get home safely. 🥴

  3. Oh, marvellous, more return hubs and stricter policies! Nothing says “welcome” quite like a bureaucratic maze—let’s just hope the migrants enjoy their pit stops in Albania before the next leg of their journey. 😏✈️

Looks like Brussels has finally cracked the code on how to make migration as fun as a tax audit! Can’t wait to see how that ‘Albania model’ works out—maybe we’ll all get a free return ticket to the next EU meeting! 😏✈️

Brilliant move, EU! Nothing says ‘we care’ quite like sending folks off to return hubs while we sip espresso and pretend it’s all sorted. ☕🤷‍♂️

Just what we needed, more paperwork and a fancy name for sending folks back—’return hubs’ really rolls off the tongue, doesn’t it? 🏢💼 Can’t wait for the next big summit where we hash out how to make it all sound even more compassionate! 😏

  7. Oh, brilliant! Just what we needed—more layers of bureaucracy to make sure the only thing migrating is paperwork. 💼✈️ I can’t wait for the return hubs, sounds like a lovely vacation spot for those poor souls!

Looks like Brussels has found a new hobby in playing musical chairs with migrants. Who needs a holiday in the Med when you can just send them to Albania, eh? 😂

Oh, splendid! Nothing says “we care” quite like setting up ‘return hubs’ abroad while we sip espresso in our comfy offices. Who knew migration could be managed like a game of musical chairs? 🤷‍♂️

Just what we needed—more bureaucracy! Because clearly, the key to solving migration issues is building ‘return hubs’ instead of actually addressing the root causes. 🥴✨

Oh brilliant, nothing says “we care about human rights” quite like setting up fancy return hubs in other countries! 😏 Maybe next we’ll get a full-on travel brochure for the “EU’s Best Return Destinations” – sign me up for Albania! ✈️

Oh joy, stricter repatriation policies and fancy return hubs—because who doesn’t love a good bureaucratic game of musical chairs? At this rate, we’ll be handing out brochures for “European Migration: The Ultimate Escape Room!” 😏✈️

Just what we needed, more red tape and ‘return hubs’ – because nothing says progress quite like sending folks on a European holiday back to where they came from! 😂 Who knew migration could be so… organized?
