Stockholm – Sweden has once again topped the EU’s gender equality index.
The annual index has been assessed since 2010, utilizing various criteria related to equality in areas such as employment, education, health, and more.
This year, Sweden scored 73.7 out of a possible 100 points, placing it just ahead of France, which scored 73.4, and Denmark at 71.8. Last year, Denmark ranked second, with the Netherlands in third place.
At the bottom of the list is Cyprus, with an index score of 47.6.
“It is encouraging that Sweden continues to lead . . . However, significant challenges remain, particularly regarding men’s violence against women and women’s role as managers of daily life,” stated the Swedish Minister for Gender Equality Nina Larsson (Liberalerna) in a written statement.
