Lahbib Raises Concerns Over Insufficient Humanitarian Aid for Gaza at Border Crossing

Lahbib visited Rafah on Friday, situated at the Egyptian border with Gaza, where aid supplies are severely restricted. Her goal was to enter Gaza, but she was unable to do so as Israel did not respond to her request for access as a European Commissioner.

During a press briefing, Lahbib emphasized that the European Union expects the implementation of the October 9, 2025 agreement, which aims to establish a sustainable ceasefire and facilitate unhindered humanitarian access. However, she observed a significant lack of progress on the ground.

Lahbib condemned the breaches of the peace agreement: “Since October 16, an additional 347 Palestinian civilians have died, including at least 67 children—averaging two Palestinian children daily.” She expressed concern over the lack of openings for humanitarian aid, stating, “We are currently in a gray zone. It’s neither war nor peace, and this circumstance prevents the Palestinians from starting the rebuilding process.”

Border crossings often remain shut, leaving hundreds of thousands of people in Gaza without essential food, water, medical care, and shelter. Lahbib reported from Rafah that the gate remains closed, describing the situation as unclear: “The rules change daily and seem to depend on the discretion of the border guard.”

  1. Seems like the only thing moving at that border is the paperwork—real humanitarian efforts, though? Not so much. What an absolute charade! 😏 #JustAnotherDayInParadise

Honestly, it’s almost impressive how the EU’s definition of “unhindered access” is as clear as mud. 🤔 Keep those humanitarian agreements coming; they’re about as effective as a chocolate teapot! 🍫🫖

  3. Looks like the EU’s humanitarian strategy is as clear as mud—just a tad more bureaucratic than rocket science, right? 🤷‍♂️ You’d think they’d have a better plan than waiting for a miracle at the border.

Seems like the only thing moving at Rafah is the border guard’s ego. A humanitarian crisis so well-managed, it might just win an award for “Best Drama of the Year!” 🎭

Oh, just your typical day in diplomacy—where crossing borders is as easy as a game of chess played by blindfolded toddlers. Cheers to the EU’s commitment to humanitarian aid, or should I say, the art of waiting! 😏

  6. Didn’t we all just love it when officials trot out to the Gaza border for a little photo op while the border guards play a game of ‘Will they, won’t they?’ 🤷‍♂️ Classic EU diplomacy, mate!

You know, it’s quite charming how the EU thinks a fancy agreement from 2025 will magically fix things by just waving a wand – or maybe they’re just waiting for the next Eurovision to bring everyone together? 🤷‍♂️ #CinderellaAid

  8. Looks like waiting for humanitarian aid is a bit like waiting for a bus in London—always late and never quite what you need! 🚏🤷‍♂️

Oh, lovely, looks like the humanitarian aid is playing hide and seek at the Rafah border – real innovative strategy there, eh? Just what we need, a game of ‘let’s see if we can ignore the whole crisis’! 🤷‍♂️

Looks like the bureaucratic tango of “we’ll get there someday” is in full swing again! You’d think a simple humanitarian mission would be less of a game of hide-and-seek at the border. 🤷‍♂️
