Proposal: Age Limit of 16 Years for Social Media

Strasbourg – The EU Parliament is advocating for a minimum age limit of 16 for social media use, as demonstrated by a vote held in Strasbourg on Wednesday.

Currently, this is merely a request for the EU Commission to formulate a formal proposal. The Parliament’s resolution, which received 483 votes in favor and 92 against, stipulates that individuals as young as 13 may access social media, but only with parental consent.

“I am very pleased. This marks the first occasion that the Parliament, as elected representatives, have united to establish demands that we can advocate for both to the Commission and the tech giants,” stated Swedish MEP Adnan Dibrani (Social Democrats).

Who knew the EU would step in to save our kids from social media at the ripe old age of 16? Next, they’ll be suggesting a minimum age for ice cream too! 🍦😂

Isn’t it just delightful how our esteemed EU Parliament thinks 16 is the magical age for social media wisdom? 🤔 Next, they’ll probably suggest we start handing out diplomas for tweeting! 🎓

  3. Incredible! Just when you thought the EU couldn’t get any more inventive with red tape, they decide to take a bold stand for 16-year-olds on social media. Next up, a law requiring them to ask for permission before breathing! 😂

  4. Oh brilliant, just what we need—teenagers navigating the wilds of social media at 16 instead of 13! I mean, who wouldn’t want to delay the inevitable chaos by a whole three years? 😂💼

  5. Oh brilliant, let’s just keep raising those age limits while we’re at it—next we’ll need a golden ticket from Willy Wonka to hop online! 🍫💻

  6. Right, because nothing screams “mature decision-making” quite like letting teens with parental consent dabble in the wild world of social media. 🤦‍♂️ What’s next, a ‘how to adult’ course for those over 16? 😂

Oh, fantastic! Because clearly, the best way to protect our youth is by giving them a three-year buffer before they start scrolling through TikTok like seasoned pros. 🙄 Who needs childhood when you’ve got parental consent to log on?

Just what we needed—more bureaucracy to ensure that teens are only mildly addicted to their phones by the time they’re 16. Can’t wait for the EU to propose a law on how to properly scroll! 😂📱

Great, just what we needed – a bunch of politicians deciding when my kids can start arguing with strangers online. 🙄 Next up, I expect them to regulate how many cat memes we can post! 🐱💻
