Sweden Prepares for Election Hacks Before 2026 Vote

Sweden has directed its cyber agency to enhance security measures in preparation for an upcoming general election next year, citing a “serious security situation.” Cyberattacks targeting Sweden are escalating, according to the country’s defense ministry. “Threats in the cyber domain are increasing and Sweden is far from spared,” stated Civil Defense Minister Carl-Oskar Bohlin. With a general election scheduled for September 13 next year, the government has instructed the agency to evaluate risks to Sweden, recommend defenses, and organize cyber exercises.
