Average Annual Salary in Portugal Reached 24,800 Euros in 2024

In 2024, the average annual salary for full-time workers in Portugal reached 24,818 euros, falling below the European Union (EU) median of 39,800 euros. This positions Portugal as the tenth country with the lowest average salary within the EU, according to data released by Eurostat today.

The reported average annual salary for full-time workers across the EU last year was 39,800 euros, reflecting a 5.2% increase from 37,800 euros in 2023. For Portugal, the 2024 figure of 24,818 euros marks an increase from 23,184 euros in 2023 and 21,131 euros in 2022.

Portugal ranks as the tenth lowest for average annual salaries, trailing behind Bulgaria (15,387 euros), Greece (17,954 euros), Hungary (18,461 euros), Slovakia (20,287 euros), Romania (21,108 euros), Poland (21,246 euros), Latvia (22,262 euros), Croatia (23,446 euros), and the Czech Republic (23,998 euros).

Luxembourg reports the highest average annual full-time adjusted salary in the EU at 83,000 euros, followed by Denmark at 71,600 euros and Ireland at 61,100 euros.
