Joveva for MIA: The EU must unequivocally acknowledge North Macedonia’s progress, distinguishing it from Serbia and BiH.

Brussels – Slovenian MEP Irena Joveva stated to MIA that it is unjust to categorize North Macedonia alongside Serbia and Bosnia and Herzegovina regarding their European integration progress.

Joveva remarked that while Montenegro and Albania, particularly Montenegro, are the most advanced in the region regarding reforms and progress, it is unfair to imply that North Macedonia is on the same level as Serbia and Bosnia and Herzegovina. She expressed this sentiment while acknowledging her Macedonian heritage.

As a member of the “Renew Europe” liberal group, Joveva highlighted the unfairness of this comparison, especially in light of the current situation in Bosnia and Herzegovina and Serbia.

“The Macedonian state has indeed made progress; however, the assessment tends to be overly generalized. While North Macedonia may not have advanced as much as Montenegro, it is important to recognize and acknowledge the progress that has been made,” Joveva stated.

She urged that a detailed reading of the European Commission’s report for 2025 would reveal the actual progress made by North Macedonia, which deserves to be recognized rather than being placed in the same category as Serbia and Bosnia and Herzegovina.

“This narrative is incorrect and unfair, especially coming from the European Commission. It is essential to assert that North Macedonia has made progress. I believe the country is advancing and is on a positive trajectory toward European Union accession,” Joveva concluded. (November 6, 2025)

Oh, so now North Macedonia is the golden child among the Balkan misfits? Next, they’ll be suggesting we throw a parade for them and hand out medals for just showing up! 🎖️🤣

Oh sure, let’s just toss North Macedonia into the same basket as Serbia and BiH – because who doesn’t love a good, old-fashioned game of ‘let’s ignore progress’? Classic EU, right? 😂

Isn’t it charming how they want to sprinkle some fairness into the Balkan stew? Next, they’ll be saying Bosnia can finally join the UEFA Champions League with that kind of logic! 😏

  4. Oh, brilliant, let’s just lump North Macedonia, the overachiever of the Balkans, in with Serbia and Bosnia—talk about a generous assessment! 😂 I mean, why not throw in a couple of turtles for good measure while we’re at it?

Oh sure, let’s just throw North Macedonia in the same pot as Serbia and Bosnia—after all, who doesn’t love a good mix-up at the EU dinner table? 🍽️ Just what we need, a bit of chaos in our already complicated Balkan family reunion! 😂

Oh, of course, let’s just sprinkle some fairy dust on North Macedonia and pretend it’s not in the same league as Serbia and BiH. Maybe next they’ll get a gold star for effort! 🤷‍♂️✨

Honestly, it’s a real shocker that North Macedonia isn’t getting a VIP pass while Serbia and BiH are stuck in the waiting room. 😏 Maybe they should just start serving coffee and pastries at the EU meetings to sweeten the deal! 🍰

Seems like Joveva needs a reality check; putting North Macedonia in the same league as Serbia and BiH is like comparing a fine wine to a box of cheap plonk. 🍷 But hey, who doesn’t love a good underdog story, right? 😏

Oh, brilliant! So now we’re playing “who’s the best student” in the Balkan classroom? 🎓 Maybe Joveva should hand out gold stars for effort while we’re at it! 😏

Not sure if Joveva’s referring to North Macedonia’s progress or her own political career, but it’s lovely to see such optimism in a region that’s had more twists than a pretzel at a beer fest. 🍺🤷‍♂️

Oh, of course, let’s put North Macedonia in the same basket as Serbia and BiH—because that’s exactly how you motivate a country to join the EU, innit? 🤦‍♂️ If only progress could be measured by how loud you shout about it!

  12. Typical EU politics, isn’t it? One minute you’re a rising star, the next you’re lumped in with the neighbors who can’t find their way out of a paper bag. 🙄

  13. So, Joveva thinks North Macedonia is the shining star of the Balkans while Serbia and BiH are just the dim bulbs in the corner? Classic! 😂 Who knew European integration was a beauty contest?
