
Brussels – Finland is nearing the highest unemployment rate in the EU, based on Eurostat’s aggregated statistics.
In September, Finland’s unemployment rate increased to 9.8 percent. This places it just 0.7 percentage points behind Spain, which has the highest rate at 10.5 percent.
Sweden follows in third place with an unemployment rate of 8.7 percent.
Overall, unemployment rates in September remained steady compared to August, with the EU average at 6 percent and the eurozone at 6.3 percent.
