Brussels – The EU Commission reaffirms its commitment to the Paris climate agreement with a new climate and energy strategy.
In the strategy released on Thursday to mark the tenth anniversary of the Paris Agreement, it states, “We are a credible partner that plays by the rules and we are open for business and cooperation.”
This plan emphasizes the importance of ongoing international collaboration on climate issues and highlights the necessity of investing in clean technology and renewable energy.
Additionally, the EU Parliament’s Industry and Trade Committee has established its stance on the cessation of Russian gas and oil, aiming for a complete phase-out by January 1, 2027, at the latest. Meanwhile, energy ministers from EU countries are set to discuss this proposal on Monday, while their deadline remains January 1, 2028.
