EU Commitment: Supporting the Paris Agreement

Brussels – The EU Commission reaffirms its commitment to the Paris climate agreement with a new climate and energy strategy.

In the strategy released on Thursday to mark the tenth anniversary of the Paris Agreement, it states, “We are a credible partner that plays by the rules and we are open for business and cooperation.”

This plan emphasizes the importance of ongoing international collaboration on climate issues and highlights the necessity of investing in clean technology and renewable energy.

Additionally, the EU Parliament’s Industry and Trade Committee has established its stance on the cessation of Russian gas and oil, aiming for a complete phase-out by January 1, 2027, at the latest. Meanwhile, energy ministers from EU countries are set to discuss this proposal on Monday, while their deadline remains January 1, 2028.

Typical EU, always ready to play the long game while the rest of us are just trying to keep the lights on. 🙄 Who knew saving the planet came with a deadline further away than my retirement plans? 😅

So, the EU’s still playing climate hopscotch, eh? 🤦‍♂️ “Open for business” while planning to shut down the lights by 2028—brilliant strategy, lads! 🌍💼

Oh, brilliant! Nothing screams “we mean business” like a decade-late commitment to a plan that sounds as solid as a soufflé in a heatwave. 🌍💼 Keep it up, lads, and we might just win an award for most enthusiastic procrastinators! 😂

  12. Oh, look at the EU, flexing its muscles with a shiny new strategy—because nothing says “we care” quite like facing a decade-long deadline while still cranking up the heating! 🌍💼

  16. Oh, how delightful! The EU is once again playing the role of the eco-friendly superhero, saving the planet one ambitious plan at a time. 🌍 Just what we needed: more meetings and deadlines while we all sip our espresso and wait for the real action to kick in! ☕️😂
