Poland’s ‘modest’ civil partnership proposal satisfies few

Defense Minister Władysław Kosiniak-Kamysz, leader of PSL, stated that the proposed civil union does not equate to marriage. “It simplifies life,” he commented.

“It’s not our ideal proposal, but it’s a coalition reality alongside Karol Nawrocki as president,” remarked Katarzyna Kotula, the Left’s minister in the Prime Minister’s Office, during a press briefing in parliament Friday. She referred to ongoing discussions with PSL on the matter.

Inoffensive legislation

As officials outlined the proposal, Kotula was cautious, avoiding any mention of LGBTQ+ families, marriage, or adoption, all non-negotiable for the agrarians.

“The proposal excludes provisions concerning children, like custody or adoption. It includes practical measures to ease life for Poles,” stated Urszula Pasławska, a PSL MP, during the briefing.

“The law will not infringe upon or diminish the institution of marriage,” Pasławska added.

Poland’s constitution defines marriage as “a union between a woman and a man.”

Oh, how thrilling! A “modest” proposal that simplifies life by sidestepping the whole marriage thing. It’s almost like giving someone a bicycle instead of a car and calling it a luxury upgrade! 🚴‍♂️💼

Oh, brilliant! A civil partnership that’s as reassuring as a lukewarm pint in a dodgy pub. Simplifying life, they say? More like complicating it with a side of confusion and a sprinkle of “not quite marriage.” 🍻

  9. Just what we needed, a “modest” proposal to simplify life – because who wouldn’t want their civil rights wrapped in a nice little bow of ambiguity? 🍩 It’s like ordering a pizza without the toppings and calling it gourmet! 🍕

  10. Seems like Poland’s got a new way to ‘simplify’ life—because who wouldn’t want a civil partnership that tiptoes around the real deal like it’s avoiding a puddle? 😂 Can’t wait to see the grand opening of the ‘not quite marriage’ club!
