Discussion in the EU on Actions Addressing Cormorant Issues

Brussels – Sweden, along with several other EU nations, is expressing concern over the increasing population of the great cormorant, particularly regarding its impact on local fish stocks. However, the EU Commission appears reluctant to modify the bird’s protection status.

“I acknowledge your suggestion to categorize the great cormorant as a huntable species within the EU. While we can explore this option, I would like to discuss with you whether it would indeed alleviate the administrative burden,” stated the EU’s Environment Commissioner Jessika Roswall during a meeting with agricultural and fisheries ministers from member states in Brussels this week.

Commissioner Roswall emphasized the importance of ongoing dialogue with stakeholders and indicated plans to provide updated guidelines that would allow member states to make exceptions to the cormorant’s protection status in order to manage its population effectively.

Looks like the great cormorant is about to get the VIP treatment in Brussels while local fishermen are left twiddling their thumbs. Maybe we should just start charging the birds for the fish they steal? 😂

Oh, brilliant! Let’s just have a chat about cormorants while the fish stocks play hide and seek—classic EU efficiency at its finest! 🐟💼

Looks like the cormorants are now the EU’s most protected species, right up there with the cheese wheels and the croissants. Can’t wait for the next meeting where they’ll probably decide to give them their own euro banknotes too! 😂💸

Sure, because what better way to solve a fish crisis than by having a good ol’ chat about cormorants in Brussels? 🤔 Fancy a cormorant stew while we’re at it? 🍽️

Oh, splendid! Just what we needed—more discussions about cormorants in Brussels. Because who wouldn’t want to sit around chatting about birds while the fish stocks swim off into oblivion? 🐟🍷

Typical EU, isn’t it? While the fish are throwing a party underwater, our esteemed officials are busy debating the cormorants’ right to a free buffet. 😂🍽️

  7. Seems like cormorants are the new EU hot topic—who knew feathered fish thieves could stir up such a bureaucratic storm? 🐦💼 Time to grab a fishing pole and some popcorn, because this meeting sounds like a real barnburner! 🎣🍿

Isn’t it just brilliant how we’re tackling the pressing issues of our time, like the cormorant crisis? Next thing you know, we’ll be debating the rights of pigeons in Paris! 🐦💼
