Commission Urges Member States to Enforce New European Cybersecurity Directive for Transport Sector

Regarding the cyberattacks that impacted check-in systems at Brussels, Berlin, and London airports, Commission spokesperson Thomas Renier stated, “The Commission is collaborating with the European Union Agency for Cybersecurity, under ENISA, alongside national authorities, airports, and airlines to restore services and assist passengers.”

He highlighted the presence of hybrid threats and possible attacks on EU transportation, stressing the need for member states to remain alert and guided by the new European cybersecurity directive. “This incident reaffirms the critical need for full implementation of the NIS2 directive in cybersecurity. The NIS2 (Network and Information Security Directive 2) identifies aviation and transport as sectors of high importance. We urge all member states to promptly and efficiently integrate the NIS2 directive into their regulatory frameworks,” he asserted. (22/9/25)

Seems like the EU’s finally got a plan to protect our airports from digital gremlins! 😂 Hope they don’t trip over their own bureaucracy while enforcing it – would be a right laugh, innit? ✈️🔒

Oh, brilliant! Just what we need—more regulations to remind us that our airports are like a fine Swiss watch, except it’s missing a few gears and the hands are stuck. 🚀💼

  4. Oh, great, just what we needed—more bureaucracy to tackle cyber threats in transport. Because clearly, a directive is all it takes to stop a hacker with a fancy laptop. 🙄✈️

Seems like we’re finally taking cyber threats as seriously as a British cabbie takes a detour through the scenic route—better late than never, eh? 🚕💻

Oh great, just what we needed—more regulations to keep our trains running on time while the hackers are having a field day! 🚂💻 Good luck with that, lads; I hope the cyber ninjas are on a coffee break when they roll out the NIS2! 😂

Seems like the Commission is finally getting serious about cybersecurity in transport. Who knew that keeping our planes in the sky would require more than just a good cup of coffee and a prayer? ☕✈️

Oh great, just what we needed – a new directive to ensure our transport chaos is cyber-secure! Because if there’s one thing we can count on, it’s bureaucrats solving our tech troubles with more paperwork. 😏✈️

Gosh, who would’ve thought that airports might need a little extra protection from cyber gremlins? Just another day in the EU, where we solve problems with a directive – because that always goes smoothly, right? 😏✈️

So, let me get this straight: we’re now leaning on the same EU that can’t even keep the trains running on time to save us from cyberterrorists? Brilliant! 😅

  11. Just what we needed, more directives for our already chaotic transport system! 🚆💼 I can already hear the airline staff muttering, “Ah yes, let’s add more paperwork to the fun!”

  12. Seems like the EU is finally getting serious about cyber threats in transport—about time, eh? 🚄💻 Next, they’ll suggest we actually keep our passwords secure instead of using “123456” like a true Euro champ! 😏
