T. Taraba: Slovakia Won’t Back Changes to the Green Deal in Brussels

Bratislava – Slovakia will abstain from voting in Brussels regarding modifications to the Green Deal. Environment Minister Tomáš Taraba (SNS nominee) announced this on social media on Wednesday. The European Council on Environment will discuss these changes on Thursday (September 18) in Brussels, according to TASR.

“Decisions are set to be made concerning additional aspects of the Green Deal. One major point is the intention to accelerate emission standards, shifting their application from 2050 to 2040. This will further push European industry beyond our borders. Slovakia will not support this,” stated Tomáš Taraba.

Merely agreeing with the ideas from Brussels officials is insufficient

He underscored that the power of nations in Brussels should be demonstrated through their capacity to protect their citizens’ interests, rather than simply “passively agreeing with the ideas of Brussels officials.”

Taraba also noted the possibility of rescinding the ban on the sale of combustion engines. This ban was a key component of the Green Deal, compelling car manufacturers to invest heavily in electric vehicles. “Now, seeing the poor economic performance of European car manufacturers, they have concluded it is necessary to lift this ban,” he remarked. According to him, the Green Deal lacks a solid scientific and economic foundation, labeling it an ideological political concept. (September 17)

So Slovakia’s big plan is to sit on the sidelines while Brussels throws darts at the Green Deal, eh? Classic move – why fix a climate crisis when you can just abstain like a refined gentleman at a dodgy buffet? 😏

Slovakia abstaining from the Green Deal changes? Shocking! Who knew they’d take the road less traveled… straight to the nearest political coffee shop! ☕🚗

Oh, lovely, Slovakia’s taking the bold stance of doing absolutely nothing. I guess protecting our citizens means letting the car industry figure it out while we sip coffee in Bratislava. ☕️💤

Slovakia’s big move: abstaining from the Green Deal vote, because who needs cleaner air when we can just sit back and watch the EU play tug-of-war? 🤷‍♂️ Classic Taraba, always ready to protect those combustion engines like it’s a national sport! 🚗💨

Oh, brilliant move, Slovakia! Nothing screams “forward-thinking” like sticking to combustion engines while the rest of Europe is trying to kickstart the electric revolution. 🚗💨 Who needs progress when you can cling to the past, right? 😂

Oh, look at Slovakia playing hardball with the Green Deal! Who knew they were the new guardians of our beloved internal combustion engines? 😂🚗 #ProgressiveThinking

Seems like Slovakia’s playing the long game—who needs a green future when you can just keep burning the midnight oil? 🌍💨 Guess it’s all about keeping the engine running, right?
