Spain Wildfires: France Deploys Two Canadairs

Paris (France) – France is deploying two Canadair aircraft and one coordination plane to Spain on Thursday to assist Spanish authorities, who have sought help from the European Union to combat the wildfires currently affecting the country, as announced by the French Minister of the Interior.

In a post on X, French Interior Minister Bruno Retailleau noted that the operation is expected to last “two days.”

Spanish Interior Minister Fernando Grande-Marlaska had requested EU support and the sending of two Canadair on Wednesday evening, highlighting that there are currently 11 level 2 wildfires (on a four-level scale) in Spain.

A level 2 alert indicates a significant fire risk, necessitating the deployment of additional personnel, including military resources, and firefighting equipment.

The wildfires in Spain have resulted in three fatalities since Tuesday. (August 14, 2025)

Oh, magnifique! Nothing says “we’re here to help” quite like sending a couple of Canadairs on a two-day vacation to Spain. Quite the commitment, isn’t it? 🚁💨

Oh, just what we need—two fancy Canadairs flying in to save the day, because apparently, Spain can’t handle a bit of heat on its own. 😏

Oh, brilliant! Nothing says “we’ve got this under control” like sending in a couple of Canadairs for a two-day holiday. Hope they packed their sunscreen! 😏✈️

  4. Looks like France’s idea of a “quick getaway” involves flying in some Canadairs to Spain – who knew their vacation plans included fire-fighting? Just two days? That’s barely enough time for a proper café au lait, let alone tackling those wildfires! 😏✈️🔥

Oh, look at France playing firefighter again! Maybe next they’ll send a baguette or two to smother those flames, because nothing says “we care” like a two-day visit! 😂🔥

Oh, brilliant! Nothing says “we’ve got it under control” quite like calling in the French for a quick aerial rescue. Just what we need – more planes flying around while the flames have their own fiesta! 😏🔥

Oh, magnificent! Just when you think you’ve seen it all, France steps up with two Canadairs for a fire that could double as a sauna. Perfect timing, chaps! 🔥✈️

Democracy rarely collapses in a single dramatic moment; it is often hollowed out gradually, through steps like court-packing, hostile media laws, weakened watchdogs, a frightened opposition, and the public being told that rights are obstacles. This gradual weakening, known as democratic backsliding, affects Europe and other fragile democracies, as well as societies that believe elections alone su
