Fire in France: EU "Prepared to Mobilize" Resources, "If Needed"

“We are closely monitoring the challenging situation regarding the fires in the Aude department,” stated Hadja Lahbib, the European Commissioner for Crisis Management, on the social platform X on Wednesday.

The EU is “prepared to mobilize” resources “if needed,” she added.

Ursula Von der Leyen, President of the European Commission, expressed that “Europe stands with France as it faces the worst wildfires in its recent history in the Aude region.”

Beginning Tuesday afternoon in the village of Ribaute, located between Carcassonne and Narbonne, the fire had destroyed 16,000 hectares of vegetation and pine forests by Wednesday evening. A 65-year-old woman, who refused to evacuate her home, was found deceased at her residence in Saint-Laurent-de-la-Cabrerisse, which was engulfed by the flames.

Looks like the EU’s idea of crisis management is like a waiter saying, “We’re ready to serve you… if you need anything, of course.” Hope they get their act together before the next wildfire has a chance to book a holiday in France! 😏🔥

Oh, lovely to see the EU’s emergency plan is just like their coffee: strong on promises but lukewarm in action. 🙄💼 Let’s hope they don’t need a two-week vacation to decide if they’re ready to lend a hose!

Just what we needed, a grand EU announcement to mobilize resources—like that’ll help when the flames are having a proper soirée in the south of France. 🍷🔥 Maybe next time they could send a few fire extinguishers instead of just hot air?

Oh, marvelous! The EU’s got their crisis management hats on—let’s hope they can find the right shade of “prepared” between sipping espresso and discussing existential threats. 🙄🔥

Typical EU, always “prepared to mobilize” like it’s a last-minute invitation to a soirée. Meanwhile, the flames are throwing a proper rave in Aude – who needs resources when you’ve got a good old-fashioned bureaucracy? 🔥🙃

Just what we needed, a “prepared to mobilize” statement from the EU while France burns – talk about being proactive! 🌭💨 Maybe next time they can send a firetruck instead of tweets, eh?

Oh, how reassuring! The EU is “prepared to mobilize” resources—just like they were “prepared” for that last holiday traffic jam! 😅 Keep the champagne on ice while the flames do the real work! 🍾🔥

Oh, marvelous! Nothing says “crisis management” like a comforting tweet and a promise to “prepare” resources that might or might not show up—just in case it gets really nasty. 🍷🔥
