MEPs Outraged Over Sanctions Decision

The chairman of the European Parliament’s Palestine delegation has attached the decision to impose sanctions against the UN Special Rapporteur.

The Left  Group in the assembly said it “condemns in the strongest terms” the decision by the Donald Trump administration to sanction UN Special Rapporteur Francesca Albanese.

The Group has called for the implementation of the EU’s ‘blocking statute’ to “protect” EU citizens from US sanctions.

It goes on to say that the latest decision by US Secretary of State Marco Rubio to add Albanese to the sanctions list

“is the latest attack on international law by the Trump administration.”

The chair of the European Parliament’s Delegation for Palestine Lynn Boylan (Sinn Féin, Ireland) was highly critical.

She told this site:

“The sanctioning of Francesca Albanese represents a new low for the United States Government.

“It’s apparent that this decision is an attack on the UN Special Rapporteur for telling the truth.

“EU leaders must make it clear that they support the UN Special Rapporteur and her mandate and will take all steps to protect her and her crucial work.

“Anything less is an act of cowardice and complicity and represents a capitulation to the undermining of the UN system and international law.”

The Left, in a statement, said it calls for the implementation of the European Union’s ‘blocking statute’ to “protect both the UN Special Rapporteur and the International Criminal Court in the course of their vital work.”

The blocking statute prohibits European operators from complying with US sanctions that have extraterritorial reach.

Seems like the EU has suddenly decided to play chess while the US is still figuring out checkers. Bravo, MEPs! 🎭 Just what we needed—more political theatre in a world already bursting with drama!

Looks like the MEPs have found a new hobby—outraged performances over sanctions while sipping their overpriced lattes. 🤦‍♂️ Who knew international law was a delicate flower that needed constant pampering? 🌸

Incredible, isn’t it? The US flexing its muscles while we scramble to play catch-up with our “blocking statute” like it’s a game of European Monopoly. 🎩💼

Seems like MEPs are finally taking a stand against the US—next, they’ll be organizing a bake sale to fund their protest. 🍰 Nothing says ‘we mean business’ like a good old-fashioned EU tantrum! 😂

  5. Seems like the EU is really throwing a tantrum over these sanctions—next, they’ll be demanding a timeout for the U.S. too! 😂 Typical, innit?

Seems like MEPs are more outraged than a barista in a café run out of oat milk—who knew a sanctions list could stir such a frothy debate? 😂 Just another day in Brussels where ‘block’ means something entirely different than in a game of chess.

Oh, just what we needed – a new episode of “How to Win Friends and Influence People,” starring the Trump administration. Can’t wait for the sequel: “Sanctions: The Musical!” 🎭💼

Oh brilliant, more EU drama over a sanction; I suppose next they’ll be sending in a strongly worded postcard to the White House. 🤦‍♂️✨
