Sarajevo (Fena) – The European Union has acknowledged the criminal sentence handed down by the Appellate Chamber of the Court of Bosnia and Herzegovina against the President of the Republic of Srpska, Milorad Dodik, reiterating that the sentence is obligatory and must be upheld by all.
– The sentence is obligatory and must be upheld. The European Union urges all parties to acknowledge the independence and impartiality of the Court, and to fully comply with its ruling – stated Anitta Hipper, chief spokesperson for foreign affairs and security policy of the EU.
Following the Appellate Chamber’s confirmation of Dodik’s one-year prison sentence and a six-year ban from holding the presidential position in the Republic of Srpska, the United Kingdom also reacted.
– All relevant institutions and actors must uphold the rule of law and comply with the ruling promptly – declared British Ambassador to BiH, Julian Reilly, via platform X.
It is important to note that the Court of BiH previously convicted Dodik for failing to implement the decisions of the High Representative in Bosnia and Herzegovina, thus undermining the constitutional framework and endangering state institutions, as stated in the verdict.
The Institute for Research of Genocide Canada (IGK) expressed that the ruling underscores Milorad Dodik’s significant threat to the legal order and territorial integrity of Bosnia and Herzegovina. – This ruling serves not only as a condemnation of the RS entity’s president but also delivers a strong message to all who seek to compromise the sovereignty and statehood of Bosnia and Herzegovina from within – declared IGK, urging relevant institutions to implement the final ruling without delay.
