Why are Ukrainians upset with Zelenskyy?

“Independent bodies like NABU and SAPO are crucial for Ukraine’s path to the EU. The Rule of Law is central to EU accession negotiations,” Kos emphasized on Tuesday.

She mentioned having had “frank” discussions with new Prime Minister Yulia Svyrydenko and Taras Kachka, Ukraine’s EU integration lead. “We’ll continue collaborating with Ukraine on essential rule of law reforms and its EU journey,” Kos shared on social media.

Dutch Foreign Minister Caspar Veldkamp echoed Kos, stating on social media: “Ukraine’s anti-corruption bodies are crucial to its reform journey. Limiting them would be a significant setback. Ensuring their independence and ongoing progress on the rule of law is vital for Ukraine’s EU accession.”

The German Foreign Office also commented: “The independence and strength of Ukraine’s anti-corruption bodies have been integral to recent reform initiatives. Ukraine will be assessed based on their progress.”

A European Parliament Budgetary Control Committee delegation in Kyiv warned in a statement that Ukrainian legislation “risks undermining the independence” of NABU and SAPO: “The independence of anti-corruption bodies is key to their success.”

The MEPs, while expressing support for Ukraine, added, “Alongside fighting corruption, respecting the Rule of Law is a fundamental EU accession requirement.”

Oh, fantastic! It seems like Ukraine’s getting a masterclass in EU accession from the folks who brought us endless bureaucracy and a charming knack for ignoring the obvious. 🇪🇺💼 Who knew compliance could be so… invigorating?

Right, because nothing says “welcome to the EU” quite like having your anti-corruption watchdogs tied to a chair in the corner. 🐶 It’s almost as if they’re saying, “Reform? Nah, let’s just have a proper laugh instead!” 😂

Looks like the EU is playing a game of “trust us, we know what we’re doing” while Ukraine’s trying to keep its anti-corruption bodies from doing a disappearing act. 😂 Who knew reforming a country was like herding cats in a rainstorm? 🌧️🐱

Honestly, it’s almost charming how everyone thinks Ukraine’s getting into the EU is just a matter of checking a few boxes—like, who needs a solid anti-corruption plan when you have a catchy slogan, right? 😂

Seems like Zelenskyy is auditioning for a new role: “The Great EU Juggler,” trying to balance corruption and independence like a circus act. 🎪 Who knew the path to Europe required so many hoops to jump through? 🤷‍♂️

Isn’t it charming how everyone’s suddenly an expert on Ukraine’s path to the EU? 🤔 Maybe we should just throw a party and call it a day, eh? 🍾

Seems like Zelenskyy is really nailing the whole “how to win friends and influence people” thing—by making sure the EU is having a nice, long wait for their coffee ☕️ while he plays hide and seek with independence. Classic! 😂

Isn’t it charming how everyone in Europe suddenly has a PhD in Ukrainian politics? 😂 Maybe they should just send a postcard: “Wish you were less corrupt, love EU.”

Seems like Zelenskyy’s doing a fab job juggling EU expectations while keeping the corruption circus in check! 🎪 But hey, who doesn’t love an uphill battle, right? 😂

Seems like Zelenskyy is playing the ultimate game of hide and seek with rule of law—good luck finding that in the EU! 😂 Maybe it’s time for a ‘Where’s Wally’ edition, but with anti-corruption bodies instead.

Seems like everyone’s got an opinion on Ukraine’s ‘path’ to the EU—guess the road signs were a bit misleading, eh? 😂 Better keep those anti-corruption bodies strong, or we might end up with more potholes than a dodgy street in Bratislava!

Looks like everyone’s on the “let’s hold hands and sing Kumbaya” train while Ukraine’s anti-corruption efforts are getting the ol’ heave-ho. 🍷 Who knew that the path to EU membership was paved with so much bureaucracy? 😂
