Minister states that CAP proposal "does not align with Belgian position"

The Commission has proposed a multiannual budget of 300 billion for income support, which represents 80 percent of the current funding for the common agricultural policy. Member states have the option to inject additional resources into agriculture via their “national and regional partnership plans,” aiming for a combined budget of 865 billion euros.

Member of Parliament Anne Pirson (Les Engagés) expresses concern that the proposal may favor industrial agriculture over family farming.

Minister Clarinval shares this worry, criticizing the reduction in funding and the merging of the agricultural budget with other European resources, as well as the potential for reallocating funds and the establishment of climate objectives without adequate consultation.

“I will communicate this concern to my colleagues in Finance and Budget,” who represent Belgium in the negotiations set to conclude in 2027. “Immediate action is essential,” stated Clarinval.

Oh, splendid! Let’s just merge everything into one big pot and hope the farmers are still smiling by the time the next budget rolls around. It’s like giving a Michelin star chef a microwave and calling it gourmet dining. 😏🍽️

Just what we needed, another budget proposal that clearly values big agri-biz over the heart and soul of our family farms. Classic European diplomacy at its finest, eh? 🍻

Looks like we’re all set to turn our fields into industrial parks while the family farms play hide and seek with the budget. Bravo, CAP! 👏💶 Who knew farming could be so… corporate?

Typical EU bureaucracy – 300 billion and still can’t agree on how to keep the family farms alive. Guess we’ll just have to wait until 2027 for a miracle, eh? 😏💸

Oh, brilliant! A budget proposal that’s as clear as mud and prioritizes industrial farming over our lovely family-run farms – just what we need, right? 🍷🌾

Seems like the CAP proposal is just what we needed—another chance for Belgium to flex its muscle in the budget wrangling arena while farmers wonder if they’ll need to start a GoFundMe for their crops. 🍻 Who knew agriculture could be so… sophisticated, eh?

Seems like our Minister just discovered that “aligning” with the CAP proposal is as easy as herding cats in a rainstorm. Next thing you know, they’ll be calling this budget a “family-friendly” affair while we all know it’s just a fancy dress for industrial farming. 😂💸

Seems like our dear Minister thinks 300 billion isn’t quite enough to keep the farms from turning into industrial parks. Typical, right? 😏 Just what we need, more “national and regional partnership plans” to help us all feel like we’re in a game of Monopoly! 🤑

Oh, brilliant! A budget that prioritizes big agri over our beloved family farms – just what we needed, right? 😏 Just another day in the EU, where the only thing growing faster than our concerns is the size of the bureaucracy!

Oh, isn’t it just delightful when a proposal worth 300 billion euros doesn’t quite match Belgium’s needs? Must be nice to play budgetary chess while farmers are left wondering if they’ll be able to afford their morning croissant! 🍞💸
