Antwerp (Brussels Morning Newspaper) – Antwerp students applaud the success of library atmosphere managers, who offer study support in locations like Permeke, with plans for further expansion.
Students can study at the Antwerp libraries during exam times in Belgium. Some libraries have implemented atmosphere managers who assist students as needed to ensure that everything runs well.
“We noticed that the young people who came here to study needed extra support and guidance,”
says project leader Laure Ruts.
“It is a project by young people for young people”.
“It’s a way for us to give non-studying young people valuable volunteer work,”
she explains.
“As atmosphere managers, they get the chance to further develop various skills and we as employees continue to coach them in this.”
The project has been going on for 3 years in Permeke library and is now also being tested on Linkeroever and in Luchtbal.
“We hope to expand this project to other city libraries”,
Says Ruts.
Alderman for Youth Karim Bachar is also a fan of the project.
“It is wonderful that study places are provided in this way for young people who do not have them at home,”
He says.
“They are extra hands, ears and eyes for the employees.”
Without making any promises, Bachar would like to see the project expand to other libraries.
The students can not only go there to study, but also to relax.
“As atmosphere managers, we hand out fruit, we are always open to a conversation and we make sure that the students can relax during a nice sports break,”
Says atmosphere manager Douae.
Anyone who wants to can register with the Permeke library and work as an atmosphere manager for a small volunteer fee.
“We continue to support our atmosphere managers and they can always count on the permanent library staff”,
Ruts emphasizes.
How do students in Antwerp libraries benefit from the atmosphere managers’ guidance?
By removing distractions and fostering a welcoming and motivated environment, atmosphere managers support the upkeep of a focused and upbeat environment that is ideal for learning.
Atmosphere managers provide informal support, assisting students in navigating the library, accessing resources, and overcoming study obstacles, which improves their entire

Oh, fantastic! Just what we need—atmosphere managers in libraries to ensure the students are *definitely* not getting distracted by their phones while handing out fruit. Who knew studying could be so… fruity? 🍏😏

Who knew libraries needed bouncers for studying? Next, we’ll have atmosphere managers in cafés telling us how to sip our coffee! ☕️😂

Seems like the Antwerp Library has finally cracked the code to modern studying: hire a bunch of atmosphere managers to fluff pillows and provide fruit. What’s next, a yoga session between chapters? 🍏📚

Oh, brilliant! Nothing says “I’m ready for exams” like having a fruit-dispensing atmosphere manager hovering over you—because who knew studying needed the ambiance of a hip café? 🍏📚

Oh, fantastic! Because nothing says “I’m ready to learn” like someone handing me fruit while I try to cram for exams. If only they could manage my stress levels too! 🍏📚

Seems like the key to academic success in Antwerp is a cheerleading squad disguised as “atmosphere managers”—who knew studying required that much hand-holding? 🍏📚 Just what we all needed, right?

Library atmosphere managers? Brilliant! Because nothing screams “intellectual pursuit” like having someone hand you an apple while you pretend to study for your exams—next stop, a PhD in fruit distribution! 🍏📚

Oh, brilliant! Because nothing screams “study time” like a fruit-dispensing atmosphere manager hovering around while you try to cram for exams. 🍏📚 Next, maybe they’ll add a barista to whip up lattes for the “intense” studying vibes! 🙄
