Hasselt (Brussels Morning Newspaper) – Around 40 students joined a unique block event at Sparkx Hasselt, combining studying with physical activity to improve focus and academic performance.
There was breakfast available, and everyone could take part in a lively break.
In the sports park’s block bar, the pupils had a complimentary breakfast. From 9 to 19, they could study, interspersed with a one-hour mini-competition in the virtual sports park.
In the park, guests can blank”>participate in a variety of sports, either in person or with the aid of virtual reality.
The attendees were already enthusiastic about the unique way of studying together.
“I think it’s great that the city of Hasselt organizes this. You can relax for a while and do a fun activity together,”
says a student.
“It’s a nice environment, it’s something different. I notice that it helps me to study and stay focused. The break is nice. You can completely clear your mind for a while and then get back into it,”
says another student.
This year, students can also study in a number of distinctive sites in different towns in Limburg, Belgium.
How did breakfast contribute to student participation and energy levels?
During the block event at Hasselt‘s Sparkx sports park, breakfast was essential in increasing student engagement and vitality. Breakfast improves cognitive abilities including focus, memory retention, and problem-solving, all of which are critical for academic engagement, according to research.
Pupils who eat a healthy breakfast typically exhibit increased motivation and focus, which enhances their engagement in academic and physical activities.
Additionally, breakfast gives pupils the energy they need to maintain physical exertion throughout sports and active breaks, preventing weariness and preserving stamina.
A healthy breakfast that includes whole grains, fruits, and protein promotes a steady flow of energy, avoiding the mid-morning slump that can lower involvement.
