Police officers undergo specific training on how to safely handle traffic situations, which includes using temporary traffic control devices (barriers, cones), positioning cars correctly, and keeping situational awareness to prevent approaching traffic risks.
When operating at or near roads, officers must wear luminous vests and make use of the proper lighting and signage to improve visibility, particularly when conducting traffic stops or handling incidents.
One officer is assigned to continuously monitor the scene of an event, making sure that traffic control measures are maintained and requesting more resources if necessary. Drivers approaching the situation are better informed by rapid and accurate updates provided by dynamic message signs.

A tragic accident, but nothing says “safety first” quite like a police car playing bumper cars with a child on a scooter, eh? 🤦♂️ Maybe next time they could consider using their sirens instead of their bumpers!

Just what we needed—another tragic reminder that scooters and police cars don’t mix like fine wine and cheese. Maybe next time the lads in blue could learn to look left and right before playing bumper cars? 🚔🍷
