Islamism and Antisemitism: Paris to Urge Brussels for Enhanced Funding Oversight

Paris – On Monday, Benjamin Haddad, the French minister responsible for European affairs, announced his intention to urge Brussels to enhance oversight of European funding. He emphasized the necessity to prevent financial support from reaching entities associated with anti-Semitism or Islamism.

During a press briefing in Beauvau, following a meeting with the Austrian Minister of the Interior, Mr. Haddad stated, “It is inconceivable and intolerable for even one euro of public European funds to be allocated to organizations, associations, or individuals that oppose our values, including those that promote hatred, anti-Semitism, or Islamism.”

He noted that the topic of monitoring European funding will be discussed with his Austrian counterpart, Claudia Plakolm, at the upcoming General Affairs Council meeting scheduled for May 27 in Brussels.

While he did not provide specific instances, the French minister expressed concern over “a range of incidents” reported in the media recently, suggesting that certain programs linked to Islamism or anti-Semitism may have received European financing. (May 19, 2025)

Only in Europe can we turn funding oversight into a diplomatic dance-off! 💃 Let’s hope they trip over some common sense while they’re at it—wouldn’t want our euros funding a party for the wrong crowd, right? 😂💸

Looks like Paris is finally putting its foot down – funding oversight, who knew? 🙄 I mean, it’s not like we all saw this coming, right? 🤷‍♂️ Time to check where those euros are going, or maybe just toss ’em in a fountain instead; at least that way we know they won’t be spreading hate! 💸💦

Oh, just what we needed, more bureaucratic oversight from Brussels! Because clearly, keeping tabs on where our euros go has worked so well in the past. 😏💸

Oh, look at Paris playing the financial watchdog! 🤔 Next thing you know, they’ll be sending a bill for ‘oversight fees’ to Brussels. As if they haven’t got enough on their plates, right? 😂💸

Oh, brilliant, more oversight from Brussels! Because we all know that extra layers of bureaucracy have never slowed anything down, right? 🙄💸

Oh, brilliant, just what we needed—more red tape in the already tangled web of EU funding! Just imagine, a few more meetings and we’ll be swimming in oversight like a fish in a bureaucratic pond, all in the name of keeping our euros away from the “bad guys.” 😂💸

Isn’t it charming how they suddenly care about where our euros end up? I mean, who knew Brussels had a budget for “moral oversight”? 😂 Just what the world needs—more meetings about the obvious! 🥳

Looks like Paris is taking a break from croissants to become the EU’s watchdog—how charming! 🍷 Because, you know, nothing screams “freedom and democracy” like a bureaucratic audit of funding, right? 😏
