Plenković and Duda Discuss Collaboration in the EU and NATO

ZAGREB – On Tuesday, Prime Minister Andrej Plenković and Polish President Andrzej Duda met in Zagreb to advocate for the ongoing partnership and collaboration between Croatia and Poland within the frameworks of the EU and NATO, in response to the intricate geopolitical landscape, as announced by the government.

Plenković highlighted the significance of maintaining their partnership, given the current geopolitical challenges, and updated President Duda on Croatia’s positive economic progress. The leaders also explored opportunities to enhance cooperation in energy, tourism, and defense sectors.

During their discussions, Plenković and Duda shared insights on prevailing global issues, transatlantic relations between the EU and the USA, the need for continued support for Ukraine, and the pursuit of a fair and lasting peace, as well as potential developments in Southeast Europe.

Special attention was given to the Three Seas Initiative, which Croatia will chair this year, marking its tenth anniversary following Poland’s tenure, according to the announcement.

In a separate meeting with Croatian President Zoran Milanović, President Duda urged Croatia to boost its troop contribution to the NATO mission in Poland and offered assistance from Poland to the Croatian border police in addressing illegal migration.

Duda, representing the conservative Law and Justice (PiS) party, visited Zagreb toward the conclusion of his second term, which spans a decade that his Croatian counterpart described as “successful and interesting.” (April 15, 2025)
