Moscow (Eurotoday) – Russia and Ukraine continued their air attacks on each other, causing injuries and damages, officials revealed early on Sunday, as the outcome of a proposed ceasefire to the three-year-old war remained uncertain.
A few days earlier, Russian President Vladimir Putin stated he supported Washington’s proposal for a 30-day ceasefire with Ukraine in principle but insisted that his troops would continue fighting until several critical conditions were met.
Meanwhile, Ukraine’s President Volodymyr Zelensky accused Vladimir Putin of attempting to “sabotage” diplomatic efforts for an immediate ceasefire. In a post on social media, he urged the US to put more pressure on the Russian president, stating that only the “strength of America” could end the war.
Both countries have since exchanged heavy aerial strikes, and Russia has moved closer on the battlefield to displacing Ukrainian forces from their months-old presence in the western Russian region of Kursk.
How many drones did Russia intercept in recent strikes?
The Russian defence ministry announced on Sunday that its air defence units intercepted 31 Ukrainian drones over Russian territory. A total of 16 were shot down over the southwestern region of Voronezh, 9 over Belgorod, and the remaining drones over the Rostov and Kursk regions, the ministry reported.
Additionally, a Ukrainian drone attack on the Russian border region of Belgorod injured three individuals, including a 7-year-old child, regional Governor Vyacheslav Gladkov stated. Two people suffered injuries after a drone struck their home, igniting a fire in the Gubkinsky district, while another individual was wounded in a drone attack on the village of Dolgoye, Gladkov added.
The Governor of Voronezh, Alexander Gusev, stated that there were no initial reports of damage or casualties. Likewise, the acting governor of the southern Russian province of Rostov confirmed that there were no immediate reports of damage or injuries in that region.
What is the impact of Russian drone strikes on Ukraine?
In Ukraine, authorities reported multiple Russian drone strikes, including one in the northern Chernihiv region, where firefighters battled a blaze in a high-rise building caused by a Russian drone attack, according to Ukraine’s emergency services.

Seems like “ceasefire” is just a fancy term for “let’s take turns bombing each other,” eh? 🎭 Maybe they should add “aerial yoga” to the peace talks—at least everyone would be flexible! 😂

Oh, splendid! Nothing says “let’s negotiate peace” quite like a little aerial bombardment. It’s like offering someone a handshake while simultaneously launching confetti grenades! 🎉✈️

Isn’t it charming how “ceasefire talks” have become just another name for aerial fireworks? 🎆 I suppose they’re just trying to keep things exciting while negotiating over coffee. ☕️😅
