Bank of England Chief Warns of Risks to UK Economy
The Governor of the Bank of England, Andrew Bailey, has raised concerns over potential risks to the UK economy, emphasizing the significant global consequences that could arise.
“We can’t ignore it anymore, given the risks to the UK economy and growth,” Bailey stated. “While the impact on inflation is uncertain, the threats to both the UK and the global economy are substantial.”
Bailey also cautioned against the potential fallout if former U.S. President Donald Trump were to withdraw the country from key international institutions such as the World Bank and the International Monetary Fund. His comments follow reports that Trump’s administration has started reviewing U.S. participation in global economic organizations.
“This would be extremely damaging to the world,” Bailey warned. “If there are concerns about global economic imbalances, they should be addressed in a multilateral forum, not through unilateral or bilateral actions.”
