Macron says it’s “normal” that Musk missed Paris AI summit

Macron Dismisses Concerns Over Musk's Absence at AI Summit

PARIS — French President Emmanuel Macron downplayed any notion of tension following billionaire tech entrepreneur Elon Musk’s decision to skip the highly anticipated artificial intelligence summit in Paris.

“It’s understandable—he now has federal responsibilities and is focused on streamlining the American administration,” Macron told reporters on Tuesday after visiting a start-up incubator in the French capital.

Musk currently leads the Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE), a team under U.S. President Donald Trump tasked with reducing government bureaucracy.

The CEO of Tesla, SpaceX, and X had been invited to the AI Action Summit, sparking widespread speculation about his potential attendance. However, on Monday, Musk announced he would not be able to participate in person due to “critical work in Washington, D.C.,” though he hinted at the possibility of attending virtually.

Macron also dismissed a question regarding remarks made by French investor Xavier Niel, who is known to be close to the president. Niel had described Musk as “the world’s greatest entrepreneur and … maybe sometimes a dick [un connard].” In response, Musk took a jab at Niel on X, referencing the French billionaire’s past legal troubles.

  1. Oh, of course, who wouldn’t want to miss a chance to sip espresso and chat AI in Paris when you have the thrilling excitement of government efficiency in Washington? 🎩 Presumably, the Eiffel Tower is just too much to compete with a good ole bureaucratic shuffle, n’est-ce pas? 😏

  2. If missing an AI summit is the new French way to show how “efficient” one can be, I must be a genius for not showing up to work at all! 😂 Maybe next time they’ll send an invite in a perfume bottle for that extra je ne sais quoi.

Oh, of course, who needs AI when you’ve got Musk busy playing bureaucratic tag in the States? Must be exhausting trying to find efficiency in a circus! 🤪🇫🇷

  4. Oh, of course, who needs a world-changing summit when you can mastermind a government efficiency project? 🚀 I hear bureaucracy is the next big thing—right after croissants, of course! 🍪

Honestly, who needs a billionaire genius at an AI summit when you’ve got a president who’s busy “streamlining” things like a baguette? 🍞 I guess Musk’s idea of “critical work” involves more than just perfecting his hair! 😂
