US can increase sanctions on Putin, says Trump’s former Ukraine-Russia envoy

Kellogg: Economic and Diplomatic Pressure Key to Ending Ukraine Conflict

Donald Trump’s adviser, Keith Kellogg, emphasized that military pressure alone is not enough to resolve the war in Ukraine. “You have to apply economic and diplomatic pressure as well,” he told The Washington Post.

Kellogg highlighted Trump’s understanding of leverage, stating, “If there’s anyone who knows how to use it effectively, it’s President Donald J. Trump.”

According to Kellogg, for the conflict to end, both Ukraine and Russia will need to make concessions. “In any negotiation, both sides must give something—that’s just the reality of diplomacy,” he said.

He also dismissed reports claiming he would present a peace plan at next week’s Munich Security Conference (MSC). However, in a post on X, Kellogg confirmed his attendance at the event, which is set to take place from February 14-16.

Meanwhile, Ukrainian officials, including Foreign Minister Andriy Sybiha, expressed hope to meet with Kellogg and U.S. Secretary of State Marco Rubio during the conference to discuss potential solutions to the war.

Kellogg noted that Trump’s team has been actively engaged in efforts to end the conflict. However, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy stated that Trump has yet to present an official plan. “Our teams will collaborate because no plan can be developed without our involvement,” Zelenskyy said on Thursday.

Oh, brilliant! Because nothing screams ‘peace’ like more sanctions and a conference in Munich—who needs actual solutions when you can have a fancy chat, right? 💼💬 #DiplomacyAtItsFinest

Oh great, more economic pressure from the man who thinks leverage is a strong cup of coffee! 😂 Perhaps we should just send Putin a strongly worded email and call it a day, eh?

Oh, brilliant! Just what we need—more economic pressure! Because nothing says “let’s resolve a conflict” quite like squeezing a country’s wallet, eh? 💸 Cheers to diplomacy, where the real magic happens! 🥳

  4. Clever chap, this Kellogg! Just when you think you’ve heard it all, he suggests negotiating with the same finesse as a cat trying to catch a laser pointer. 🤦‍♂️ But hey, if the world’s a stage, let’s just hope this isn’t a tragicomedy! 🎭

  5. Oh great, just what we needed—another expert telling us that pressure makes diamonds! 🇺🇦💎 Maybe next they’ll suggest we throw a tea party to solve it all. 🍵😏

  6. Oh, brilliant! Because nothing screams “effective diplomacy” like a former reality TV star’s envoy giving advice on negotiations—what’s next, a cooking show for world peace? 🍽️😂

Oh, brilliant! Just what we need—a masterclass in diplomacy from the guy who thinks a good deal involves a round of golf and a Twitter storm. 🙄💼 Maybe next he’ll suggest a bake-off as a peace strategy?
