The ongoing controversy surrounding Elon Musk’s actions has only added fuel to the unrest, playing a role in igniting race riots in August. During this period, Musk also found himself at odds with the U.K. government, as highlighted in his public verbal clashes with officials like Prime Minister Keir Starmer and Home Office Minister Jess Phillips. Musk’s increasingly hardline stance on immigration has shifted his politics further to the right in recent years, making his criticism of centrist and center-left figures unsurprising. The Tesla CEO often engages in online disputes with leaders on the left.
What is more unexpected, however, is Musk’s public disagreement with Nigel Farage, a prominent figure in the anti-immigration movement. Earlier on Sunday, Farage appeared on television and defended Musk’s right to express his opinions, including his sharp remarks about Labour politicians. However, Farage drew a line when it came to Musk’s endorsement of far-right figure Tommy Robinson, who is currently imprisoned for contempt of court.
Reflecting on Musk’s divisive positions, Farage commented last Friday, saying, “He has a whole range of opinions, some of which I agree with very strongly, and others of which I’m more cautious about.”
Speculation continues to swirl around Musk’s potential involvement in U.K. politics. Many believe he could make a significant financial intervention, reminiscent of his actions in the 2024 U.S. presidential election. That election saw Donald Trump regain power, with Musk not only influencing the campaign but also earning a key advisory role in shaping a major U.S. government overhaul. Whether Musk’s political ambitions will extend across the Atlantic remains to be seen, but his growing influence is already making waves on both sides of the pond.
