Zelenskyy Criticizes US for ‘Illogical’ Easing of Russia Sanctions

“Russia will receive funds for its military efforts, and many drones are produced on Russian territory to destabilize the Middle East,” he stated.

The U.S.-Israeli attacks on Iran and Tehran’s counterattacks against U.S. allies in the Gulf have disrupted transit in the Strait of Hormuz, raising energy prices. To reduce prices, Washington has temporarily permitted the sale of Russian oil currently at sea, according to the U.S. Treasury Department.

Earlier Friday, German Chancellor Friedrich Merz criticized the decision as “wrong” and believed it would assist Moscow in rebuilding its war finance. Zelenskyy also mentioned that easing sanctions would not “promote peace.”

In Paris, Macron shared the frustration with Washington and stated that rising prices “don’t mean we should reconsider our sanctions policies against Russia.”

“It’s the stance of the G7 and it’s certainly ours,” he added.

Zelenskyy was in Paris on Friday for a visit aimed at showing support for Ukraine despite the international focus shifting to the Middle East.

The two leaders were also set to discuss the Hungarian and Slovakian opposition to finalizing a €90 billion loan to Ukraine, ahead of a European Council summit next week.

“Russia is gaining new resources due to the destabilization, Ukraine must receive what has been promised,” said Zelenskyy.

Looks like the U.S. is playing a game of financial hopscotch with Russia while the rest of us are stuck in the mud. 🤑 Brilliant strategy, really—who knew that funding a military effort could double as a budget balancing act?

Isn’t it delightful how easing sanctions is the new recipe for peace? 🍽️ Just what we need – a dash of Russian oil to spice up the geopolitical stew.

Seems like the U.S. is handing Russia a lifeline while pretending to play hardball—classic case of “let’s put the pedal to the metal, but only if it doesn’t get my shoes dirty.” 🤦‍♂️

So, let me get this straight—while the US plays fairy godmother to Russia’s military budget, we’re all just supposed to sip our overpriced espressos and nod along? Brilliant strategy, mate! 🤦‍♂️💸
