US Restores Military Aid to Ukraine Following Saudi Cease-Fire Talks

Senator Marco Rubio emphasized the gravity of the ongoing war, stating, “This is serious. This is not Mean Girls or some TV episode. People are dying, and unless a ceasefire happens tonight, more will perish tomorrow. The president wants this to stop, and that’s why we are here.”

Before the discussions, Rubio suggested on Monday evening that U.S. aid could resume depending on how the talks unfolded. However, he noted that Ukraine might have to relinquish some of the territory seized by Russia since 2014 as part of any peace agreement.

Ukraine has consistently rejected any ceasefire that involves ceding occupied land, including Crimea, which Russia annexed in 2014. Instead, Kyiv has called for a “just peace,” demanding that Russia pay reparations for the war.

Despite Rubio’s earlier comments about territorial concessions, negotiations did not touch on this issue, according to a Ukrainian official who spoke with POLITICO.

Daria Zarivna, an advisor to the Ukrainian president and a participant in the discussions, asserted that Ukraine is committed to peace. “We have demonstrated that we want peace the most. We are taking tangible steps toward ending the war. Russia must do the same,” she said.

Just hours before the negotiations in Saudi Arabia, Ukraine carried out its largest drone strike on Moscow since the war began, targeting ten regions across Russia.

Oh, brilliant! Nothing says “let’s chat about peace” quite like dropping a few drones on your neighbor’s front lawn before negotiations. 🍵 Just another Tuesday in geopolitics, eh?

Oh, splendid! Nothing says “we value peace” like a drone strike before a chat about territory. Who knew diplomacy was just a high-stakes game of chess with a side of fireworks? 🎇🥳

Oh sure, let’s throw some military aid around like confetti at a wedding while Ukraine’s just asking for a “just peace” – because nothing says diplomacy like a drone parade over Moscow, right? 😂 I can almost hear the negotiations: “How about we give you back some land if you promise to stop being, you know, such a nuisance?” 🥳

Oh, fantastic! Nothing says “we’re serious about peace” quite like a drone strike on Moscow just before the talks, eh? It’s like bringing a knife to a butter fight… but hey, who needs territory when you’ve got negotiations and a sprinkle of drama? 🇺🇦✈️

  5. Just what we needed—another round of “Let’s pretend to negotiate” while Ukraine plays the world’s most intense game of chess. 🎭 If only diplomacy came with a side of popcorn, we’d have the perfect reality show! 🍿

Oh, brilliant! Nothing screams “we’re serious” like a military aid restore right after a chat over mint tea in Saudi Arabia. 🤦‍♂️ It’s like trying to negotiate peace while the fireworks are still going off! 🎆
