UN Peacekeeper Injured by Gunfire Near ‘Blue Line’ in Southern Lebanon

According to UN spokesperson Stéphane Dujarric, a UN peacekeeper was injured while the UN Interim Force in Lebanon (UNIFIL) was inspecting a roadblock in the village of Bastarra, southern Lebanon. The Blue Line, established by the UN, runs along Lebanon’s southern border as a withdrawal line confirming Israel’s exit from southern Lebanon. On the same day, another UNIFIL patrol reported machine gun fire from south of the Blue Line near Kfar Shouba. Mr. Dujarric stated that UNIFIL had informed the Israel Defense Forces about their activities in advance, following standard procedures for patrolling sensitive areas. In recent days, incidents hindering UNIFIL’s movements have also occurred. Any threat to the safety of UN peacekeepers is unacceptable. Mr. Dujarric urged all parties to stop actions that endanger peacekeepers and interfere with their work under Security Council resolution 1701. He also reminded parties of their duty to ensure the peacekeepers’ safety.

Just another day at the office for our lads in blue, eh? Who needs a quiet life when you can enjoy a little friendly fire while inspecting roadblocks? 😂

Clearly, being a UN peacekeeper in Lebanon is just a walk in the park… if that park happens to be filled with machine gun fire! 🤷‍♂️ Who needs a calm work environment anyway?

  3. Oh brilliant, just what we needed—a UN peacekeeper getting a warm welcome near the Blue Line. Next time, maybe they should put up a “shooting range” sign instead of a peacekeeping one, eh? 😏💼

Always a pleasure to see peacekeepers getting a warm welcome in a ‘no-fire’ zone. Must be a new interpretation of “hands-on” diplomacy, eh? 🤷‍♂️💼

Just another day in Lebanon where peacekeeping is more like a game of dodgeball with bullets. 🤷‍♂️ I suppose the “Blue Line” serves as a great backdrop for those who fancy a bit of excitement on the job! 🎯

  8. Just another day in paradise, eh? Seems like the Blue Line is the hottest spot for a bit of “target practice”—who needs a vacation when you’ve got UN peacekeepers dodging bullets for fun? 😂

Seems like “peacekeeping” is just another term for “target practice” these days. Who knew the Blue Line came with complimentary gunfire? 🤷‍♂️💼

  10. Seems like “peacekeeping” has taken a bit of a detour into “peace-loving” territory, eh? 🤷‍♂️ Just another day in paradise where the only thing blue is the line—and apparently the peacekeepers too!

  11. Oh great, just what we need—another UN peacekeeper becoming a target practice for the neighborhood’s finest. Guess the “Blue Line” really is just the starting point for the latest game of ‘who can shoot the messenger’! 🤦‍♂️

Typical day in paradise, eh? Just another peaceful stroll for the UN troops turning into a game of ‘who’s got the bigger gun’ – must be their version of team-building exercises. 😏💼

Oh, just another day at the office for the UN, dodging bullets while trying to keep the peace. I guess the “Blue Line” is more of a “red carpet” for trouble now, eh? 😅
