Ukraine Peace Talks Delayed Amid Washington’s Focus on Iran Crisis

The parties met a week ago, and the Ukrainian leader emphasized readiness to engage in all formats to advance a resolution to end the conflict.

Meanwhile, U.S. special envoy Steve Witkoff had what he termed “productive and constructive” talks in Florida with Kremlin representative Kirill Dmitriev.

Witkoff noted that the status of Donbas remains a primary issue, with Kyiv refusing Moscow’s demands to cede control of the region.

Ukrainian officials were working on restoring power to the capital and other areas after emergency outages on Saturday affected several Ukrainian cities and neighboring Moldova, according to reports. Ukraine’s Energy Minister Denys Shmyhal attributed the outages to a technical issue with power lines between Ukraine and Moldova.

The failure led to a cascading outage in Ukraine’s power grid, triggering automatic protection systems, Shmyhal explained.

Ukraine faces an energy sector emergency after Russian forces severely damaged the power and heating infrastructure in the frigid winter.
