Trump Opposes Global Shipping Climate Tax

“They killed [the agreement]. The lack of leadership from the EU makes my blood boil,” said a person familiar with the discussions, who was granted anonymity for candid commentary.

The decision received backing from major fossil fuel producers like Saudi Arabia and Russia, who often resist climate measures aimed at reducing oil, gas, and coal usage. Major shipping nations and countries with large flag registries, such as Singapore and Liberia, also objected.

Some countries changed their stances.

China, the world’s largest shipbuilder, switched from supporting the measure in April to voting for its delay on Friday.

The disagreement underscored the divide between nations concerned about the measure’s economic effects and those worried about global warming’s impact.

A Saudi delegate, unnamed due to IMO reporting restrictions, accused carbon price advocates of fostering global division. “We have differences because we are all looking out for our citizens, our futures, and our economies,” he stated.

So, the EU’s leadership is like a ghost—everyone knows it’s there but no one really wants to see it, eh? 😂 Meanwhile, I’m sure the fossil fuel giants are just thrilled to keep their carbon footprint as large as the Mediterranean!

Looks like Trump’s taking the wheel on climate, or should I say steering us straight into the iceberg? 🚢💨 With the EU’s leadership style resembling that of a lost tourist, it’s no wonder the fossil fuel gang’s having a right laugh! 😂

  10. Typical, innit? Just when we thought we’d get serious about climate, the usual suspects turn it into a circus. Bravo, lads! 🎭

Brilliant move, really—nothing says ‘we care about the planet’ like a bunch of oil tycoons and shipping nations having a little tantrum over a climate tax. Typical, isn’t it? 🤷‍♂️ Just a shame the world won’t wait for their tea breaks! ☕️💼

Imagine that, the EU couldn’t lead a pack of sheep to pasture, and now we’ve got fossil fuel fan clubs throwing a party! 🥳 Can’t wait to see how this “eco-friendly” shipping saga unfolds – spoilers: it’s not gonna be pretty. 😂
