Trump Agrees to Temporarily Suspend Canada Tariffs for 30 Days

President Donald Trump has decided to hold off on implementing new tariffs on Canadian imports for a minimum of 30 days, Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau announced Monday following a phone conversation with the U.S. president.

“I just had a productive call with President Trump,” Trudeau shared on the social media platform X. “The proposed tariffs will be on pause for at least 30 days as we collaborate on solutions.”

Earlier in the day, President Trump also came to an arrangement with Mexican President Claudia Sheinbaum to postpone planned tariffs on Mexico for one month. The delay provides time for discussions on key issues, including the fentanyl crisis and migration concerns, which had prompted Trump’s initial decision to impose the tariffs on Saturday.

Isn’t it adorable how Trump plays political hopscotch? 🎩 One month of tariff-free bliss with Canada and Mexico—just long enough to squeeze in another round of golf. ⛳️

Oh great, a 30-day pause on tariffs—just what we need! I suppose that gives us enough time to brew a fresh pot of maple syrup and come up with more ways to dodge those trade headaches. 🍁😏

Oh great, a whole month without tariffs to let us breathe—just enough time for everyone to forget about the actual issues. 😂 Too bad we can’t put our trade disputes on pause indefinitely, eh? #BrilliantStrategy
