Tirana Welcomes the Sixth Summit of the European Political Community

With the theme “New Europe in a New World,” the sixth summit of the European Political Community convened in Tirana, bringing together heads of state and government from 47 European nations, along with leaders from pivotal European and international institutions.

Following a welcoming ceremony and a group photo, the European leaders proceeded to the “House of Europe,” constructed specifically in Skanderbeg Square and decorated with artwork by Albanian children, symbolizing unity for “a new Europe in a new world.”

The plenary session centered on Europe’s security and democratic resilience, addressing pressing issues such as supporting Ukraine in its pursuit of a just and lasting peace, while also tackling long-term challenges like safeguarding democratic processes from foreign interference and enhancing Europe’s collective defense capabilities.

Prime Minister Rama moderated the plenary session, opening with a welcoming address to the attendees.

The Albanian Prime Minister highlighted the optimism within the region, which has weathered economic collapse, migration, and disinformation long before the term became widely recognized, learning that cooperation yields no losers.

“Why not envision an EPC for education, science, and artificial intelligence? An international alliance that transcends military concerns, fostering a landscape of interconnected knowledge, scientific research, and innovation, where territories outside the EU or aspiring for membership can become new investment frontiers without bureaucratic obstacles, regulations, or fiscal burdens,” Rama suggested.

Following this, the discussions shifted to the ongoing conflict in Ukraine.

European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen remarked, “It is evident that President Zelensky is keen for dialogue, but President Putin has consistently failed to engage, reflecting his true position. Thus, we will intensify our efforts,” referencing the discussions in Istanbul.

She announced that the EU is preparing to implement a new sanctions package aimed at targeting Russia’s shadow fleet of aging cargo vessels used to circumvent international sanctions, alongside the Nord Stream gas pipeline consortium. (May 17)

Oh, look at that, Europe’s finest all gathered in Tirana, discussing security while sitting in a lovely house built by kids – because nothing says “serious diplomacy” like a splash of crayon art, right? 🇦🇱🎨 Let’s hope their collective brilliance can outshine the bureaucratic mess we’ve all come to know and love! 😂

Just what Europe needs, another summit to discuss the age-old dilemma of how to keep the peace while pretending we’re not all just one bad haircut away from a diplomatic incident. 🍷✨ Good luck convincing anyone that “new Europe” is anything but the same old political charade with a fresh coat of paint!

Is it just me, or does it seem like we’re throwing a grand party in Tirana while the rest of Europe is still stuck in the waiting room? 🎉 Maybe we should add a few clowns to the agenda, just to keep things interesting! 😂

So, a grand summit in Tirana where leaders gather to discuss “New Europe in a New World”—how original! I suppose next they’ll hold a summit on how to make summits even more exciting. 🎉

Oh, splendid! A summit in Tirana, where the artwork of kids holds the key to Europe’s future—who knew finger painting could solve geopolitical crises? 🎨✈️ Might as well add a crayon section to the agenda while we’re at it!

Right, because what Europe really needs is another summit to discuss “unity” while sipping espresso and taking group selfies in Skanderbeg Square. 🙄 Next, they’ll be handing out participation trophies for the best-sounding ideas that go absolutely nowhere. #EPCGoals

Oh, splendid! Nothing says “new Europe” quite like a summit in Tirana where world leaders gather to discuss peace while sporting matching ties for the group photo. Talk about a united front—let’s just hope the artwork by Albanian kids doesn’t steal the show! 😂✨

So, we’ve gathered 47 European leaders in Tirana to tackle pressing issues while taking a group selfie—what a time to be alive! 🤳🏻 Who knew solving international crises could be so picturesque? #NewEurope #SameOldStory
