Switzerland announced it will not permit weapons exports to the U.S. while Washington is engaged in its current military operations against Iran.
The Swiss government stated on Friday it won’t approve new licenses for exporting war materials to nations involved in the conflict, emphasizing Switzerland’s adherence to neutrality.
Switzerland has refrained from issuing new export licenses for weapons to the U.S. since the U.S. and Israel initiated attacks on Tehran on February 28. Existing licenses for exporting weapons to the U.S. remain valid as they are not currently related “to the war,” yet they will be monitored to avoid violating Swiss neutrality laws.
Other dual-use and military goods exports, as well as goods impacted by sanctions against Iran, will also undergo review, the government added.
Switzerland has not issued weapons export licenses to Israel or Iran for “several years,” according to the government.
