Stavros Konstantas of Bank of Greece Elected to EIOPA Management Board

The European Insurance and Occupational Pensions Authority (EIOPA) Board of Supervisors has appointed Stavros Konstantas, Director of Occupational and Private Insurance Supervision at the Bank of Greece, to its Management Board. Konstantas succeeds Ante Žigman, former President of the Croatian Financial Services Supervisory Agency (HANFA), following Žigman’s new role as Governor of the Croatian National Bank (HNB). Konstantas’ term begins on 13 August 2026, lasting two and a half years, with the possibility of renewal.

EIOPA’s Management Board, comprising EIOPA’s Chairperson and six national supervisory authority representatives, ensures EIOPA’s mission and tasks are fulfilled. Meetings include a European Commission representative and EIOPA’s Executive Director. EIOPA’s Board of Supervisors, the main policy decision-making body, includes voting members from each EU Member State’s supervisory authority, and non-voting members from Iceland, Liechtenstein, and Norway.
