London (Brussels Morning Newspaper) – British Prime Minister Sir Keir Starmer has urged Iran to “return to the negotiating table” following the US airstrikes on nuclear sites in the nation overnight.
On Saturday night, the US claimed it had launched strikes on three nuclear facilities in Iran, including Natanz, Isfahan and Fordo. This move followed Israel’s launch of a new operation against Iran, which began overnight and continued into 13 June. Israel stated its targets were military sites, including nuclear facilities.
How has the UK responded to US strikes on Iran?
In a statement on X, Starmer stated stability in the region was a preference, depicting Iran’s nuclear programme as “a grave threat to international security”.
“Iran can never be allowed to develop a nuclear weapon, and the US has taken action to alleviate that threat,”
Starmer also said.
He further said,
“The situation in the Middle East remains volatile and stability in the region is a priority. We call on Iran to return to the negotiating table and reach a diplomatic solution to end this crisis.”

Did the US request UK support for airstrikes?
Furthermore, as reported by Reuters, according to senior minister Jonathan Reynolds, the UK didn’t receive a US request to use its Diego Garcia base for the US strikes on Iran. Still, it was informed ahead of the strike on Sunday.
Reynolds stated that the UK had deployed military assets to the region and would take whatever action was needed to defend its key allies if they were threatened. He also mentioned that Prime Minister Keir Starmer was in talks with allies on Sunday.
“No request was made,”

Just what we needed, another diplomatic plea from Starmer after a round of airstrikes. Must be lovely to sit in London and urge Tehran to chat while the fireworks are happening! 🎆💼

Looks like Starmer’s idea of diplomacy is akin to asking a fox to negotiate with the chickens after a buffet. Perfect timing, mate! 🍗🤦♂️

So, Starmer’s calling for talks while the US is playing whack-a-mole with Iran’s nuclear sites? Classic diplomacy—nothing says “let’s chat” like a good ol’ airstrike! 😂✈️

Looks like Sir Keir is trying to play peacemaker while the fireworks are going off. Talk about being at a dinner party and suggesting a nice chat while the roast is on fire! 🍷💥

Looks like Starmer’s playing a high-stakes game of diplomatic poker while the US throws missiles like confetti. Can’t wait to see how this “negotiating table” fits in with all the fireworks! 💥😅

Look at Starmer, always the peace-loving diplomat, asking Iran to chat while the US plays whack-a-mole with airstrikes – classic! 😂 If only we could negotiate like this over our morning coffee, eh? ☕️

Oh, brilliant! Just what we need – more talks while the fireworks go off. Maybe Starmer thinks diplomacy can outshine a good ol’ airstrike! 🎇💼

Looks like Starmer’s idea of diplomacy is just asking Iran to join the negotiating table after a good ol’ US airstrike party. 😂 Just the sort of casual chat you’d expect over tea and crumpets, right?
-
Right, so Starmer thinks a friendly chat will sort out the whole nuclear drama, like a good ol’ pub debate over pints. 🤔 Guess diplomacy’s just a fancy word for “let’s ignore the bombs and have a natter!” 🍻
-
Oh, brilliant! Nothing screams “let’s fix things” like a polite request to a country under airstrike. Must be the new diplomatic strategy: Send out invitations while the fireworks are still going off! 🎉💼

Starmer’s calling for Iran to chat just after a few bombs dropped is like asking for a tea party in the middle of a football match—cheers to diplomacy, mate! 🍵⚽
