Stabbing in Verrebroek Injures 2 Men, 2 Arrested

Verrebroek (Brussels Morning Newspaper) – A Thursday, July 31, 2025, stabbing in Verrebroek left 2 men injured (27 & 33). Police, familiar with the troubled home, arrested 2; a judge ordered monitoring and launched an attempted manslaughter probe.

According to VRT News, a stabbing incident took place on the morning of Thursday, July 31, 2025, in a terrace house on Sint-Laurentiusstraat in Verrebroek, East Flanders, Belgium. Neighbours in the surrounding area remembered hearing loud screaming and chaos in the house until Wednesday night. The neighbours also said that by morning, the argument had escalated. On Thursday morning (at 8:30 AM), most of the emergency vehicles (MUG, police, ambulance) arrived.

What led to the stabbing at the troubled Sint‑Laurentiusstraat home?

Inside the house, rescuers found 2 people injured, 1 had a stab wound in the shoulder, and the other had lighter injuries. They were assisted on the spot and subsequently taken to the hospital for additional care. Police are now investigating how the fight escalated into a violent altercation and who is ultimately responsible for what occurred.

A family from Suriname occupies the terraced house where the stabbing occurred. Police are now considering how the fighting progressed into a violent altercation, and who may be held responsible for what happened.

The family that occupied the terraced property was from Suriname originally. When the stabbing happened, the mother was outside the country, and only the adult children were there. The police and emergency services arrived swiftly and took control of the situation.

2 men were arrested there. A 27‑year‑old man was later put under electronic monitoring by the investigating judge, while a 33‑year‑old man stayed in the hospital and has not been taken into custody because of his injuries.

Police say the people involved have given different versions of what happened and why the stabbing took place, which makes it harder to know the full story. Reports say that police had to visit the same house on Sint-Laurentiusstraat several times in the past because of fights and disturbances. Neighbours mentioned that arguments inside the home were not unusual, and officers had stepped in before to calm situations.
