For many journalists in Brussels, the summer hiatus ended suddenly as the EU news cycle accelerated with the arrival of the first week of September. In line with Brussels’ tradition, this marked the start of ‘back-to-work’ events, providing an opportunity to reconnect with colleagues after a month of relative tranquility in the European quarter.
On Friday, September 12, the European Newsroom (enr) hosted its September Rentrée, an evening gathering at the office for colleagues to share a drink, recount their best summer stories, and discuss upcoming events for the rest of the year.
This second edition of the September Rentrée saw around 20 guests from participating news agencies, representing countries from Portugal to North Macedonia and from Germany to Slovenia.

The event coincided with the third anniversary of the enr, which was launched in September 2022. Since then, it has expanded with more formats, languages, and participating agencies.
