Bratislava – The Ministry of Investments, Regional Development and Informatization (MIRRI) of the Slovak Republic has accelerated the utilization of EU funds from the Slovakia Program to ten percent. The ministry also reported positive developments in the Fund for Just Transition and a significant speedup in processing grant applications, which are now being handled fifty percent faster, according to a statement from MIRRI’s communication department on Friday, as reported by TASR.
“Since we took over, the drawdown from the Slovakia Program has reached 10.1%, amounting to over 1.27 billion euros. The previous ministry leadership under Richard Raši (Hlas-SD) and Michal Kaliňák managed to secure only five percent of EU funds in nearly two years,” stated Minister of Investments, Regional Development and Informatization Samuel Migaľ (independent). He emphasized that the new MIRRI team accomplished this in less than six months, showcasing the ministry’s capability for professional and efficient operation under effective leadership.
In addition to the increased drawdown of EU funds, the processing time for applications for non-repayable financial contributions has decreased from an average of 80 days to 43 days, with MIRRI aiming to reach a target of 40 days. The ministry also noted substantial advancements in the Fund for Just Transition, with 38 projects contracted as of September 5, 2025, and a doubling of the drawdown compared to March of this year.
“The previous leadership left us with numerous unresolved issues within the ministry,” concluded Migaľ. (September 12)
