Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy has condemned Russia for dismissing a U.S.-backed ceasefire proposal, accusing Moscow of believing it can “kill with impunity.”
Keith Kellogg, the U.S. special envoy to Ukraine under President Donald Trump, condemned the recent Russian strikes on civilian areas, saying the attacks “cross any line of decency.”
“As a former military officer, I know the distinction between legitimate military targets and civilians — and this is simply wrong,” Kellogg stated in a post on X. “President Trump is working tirelessly to bring this war to an end.”
European leaders also voiced their outrage. French President Emmanuel Macron wrote in an X post that “Russia alone continues to choose war — at the cost of human lives, in violation of international law, and in defiance of President Trump’s diplomatic efforts.”
Polish Prime Minister Donald Tusk criticized the assault, describing it on X as “The Russian version of a ceasefire: Bloody Palm Sunday in Sumy, Ukraine.”
U.K. Prime Minister Keir Starmer added to the international condemnation, saying he was “appalled by Russia’s horrific attacks on innocent civilians in Sumy.”
