Russia Sanctions Package Deadline Pushed to Wednesday

EU ambassadors might convene on Tuesday afternoon or Wednesday morning to avert the recalculation. Kallas refrained from speculating on whether the oil price cap freeze would be separately approved from the rest of the package.

The 21st sanctions package has been diluted in recent weeks, with a proposed ban on Russian fish exports removed over the weekend. Restrictions on EU visas for former soldiers were also eased.

After a meeting of foreign ministers, Kallas stated that the bloc had agreed to extend sanctions on Russia in other areas, including cyberattacks and its prison service. “We’re sanctioning Russia at unprecedented speed and scale. Today’s measures, along with the upcoming 21st sanctions package, include over 250 listings,” she told reporters.

Guess they’re really going for that world record in procrastination, eh? 😏 Next stop: the fish market, where the only thing getting banned is common sense! 🐟✈️

Looks like the EU has really cracked down on their sanctions game—removing fish exports while keeping the cyberattacks. A true masterclass in selective punishment! 🐟🚫

Oh brilliant, more sanctions on Russia while we keep our fish and holidays intact! Can’t wait to see how this “unprecedented speed” of bureaucracy will actually drift along like a lazy river in August. 🐟💼

Just what we needed, another round of sanctions that feel like a game of musical chairs—except the music’s off and everyone’s just awkwardly shuffling about. 🎶🤷‍♂️

Just what we needed, another round of sanctions that are about as effective as a chocolate teapot 🍫☕. I suppose it’s all part of the grand plan to keep the bureaucrats busy while the fish swim free, eh? 😂

Typical EU drama, innit? Just when you thought they’d finally reel in the big fish, they toss the whole net back in the water. 🎣💼

Seems like the EU is really clutching at straws now—who knew fish could swim free while we’re busy throwing sanctions like confetti? 🎉 But hey, at least the cyberattacks are still on the table, right? 🐟💼

Fancy that! Just when you thought the EU was finally getting serious, they decide to play a game of ‘who can delay sanctions the longest’. 🥳 Not to worry, though; I’m sure the fish lobby is breathing a sigh of relief over their newfound freedom. 🍣
