"Rubio Warns US May Rethink NATO Post-Iran Conflict: ‘Not a Very Good Arrangement’"

European countries are increasingly resisting U.S. requests for assistance against Iran, despite President Donald Trump’s growing frustration with Washington’s historic allies.

Spain has emerged as a key point of tension in this transatlantic divide. Deputy Prime Minister Carlos Cuerpo stated on Monday that Madrid has barred U.S. military aircraft involved in the Middle East conflict from using its airspace and refused access to key bases, reaffirming the government’s opposition to the operation.

Polish Defense Minister Władysław Kosiniak-Kamysz announced on Tuesday that Warsaw had “no plans” to relocate its Patriot air defense systems to the Middle East, emphasizing that “Poland’s security is an absolute priority,” a sentiment he shared on X. Similarly, Italy declared on Tuesday that it had refused U.S. requests for Iran-bound bombers to use its Sigonella air base in Sicily.

Since the U.S. and Israel began strikes against Tehran on February 28, France, Germany, Italy, and the U.K. have opposed sending warships to the Gulf. In March, they endorsed a joint statement with countries including Japan and Canada, advocating for “appropriate efforts” to ensure safe passage through the Strait of Hormuz, but only after the conflict ceases, as emphasized by German Chancellor Friedrich Merz.

Tensions have heightened, with Trump criticizing France for closing its airspace to aircraft transporting military supplies to Israel, labeling Paris as “VERY UNHELPFUL” and issuing a warning: “The U.S.A. will REMEMBER!!!” He also cautioned European allies that securing the Strait of Hormuz would become their responsibility, not Washington’s.

Seems like NATO’s about to get the ol’ European makeover—less “yes sir” and more “no thanks, mate.” 🤷‍♂️ Maybe they’ll throw a protest party instead of a military one! 🍷

Seems like the U.S. is finally realizing that NATO isn’t a free-for-all buffet—who knew? 🤷‍♂️ Meanwhile, Europe’s playing hard to get, like a lover who just found out you’re on a diet! 🍷✈️

Isn’t it delightful how the U.S. is suddenly shocked that Europe isn’t keen on playing the military game? I guess they thought we’d just roll out the welcome mat for their bombers like it’s a bloody holiday. 😂

Seems like NATO’s now a bit like that old pub in the corner—everyone used to love it, but now no one’s keen on pouring a pint for the regulars. 🍺 Good luck getting those chaps to rally round the bar again!

Typical! The U.S. thinks it can call the shots while we’re busy sipping espresso and minding our own business. 🍷 Good luck with that NATO arrangement, mate!

Seems like the US is discovering that NATO isn’t a one-way street anymore—who knew? 😂 Maybe they should’ve read the fine print on their ‘friends forever’ contract!

It’s quite charming how the U.S. thinks it’s still the headmaster of the NATO school, while Europe’s just trying to dodge detention. 🇪🇺✈️ “Not a very good arrangement,” indeed! Maybe they should just send a postcard instead. 🖊️📬

Looks like the US is starting to realize that their European allies are about as eager to jump into this mess as a cat is to take a bath. 😂 Good luck with that, Rubio – maybe try asking nicely next time!

Looks like NATO’s turning into a bit of a soap opera—who knew Europe could refuse a U.S. request with such flair? 😂 Meanwhile, I guess we’ll just send them a postcard from the Gulf! ✈️📬

Talk about a game of diplomatic hot potato! 😏 Looks like America’s big ol’ NATO party is losing its guest list faster than a British pub on a rainy night! 🍻

Seems like NATO’s got a bit of a “who needs you?” vibe going on these days. Let’s just hope the Americans remember to send a postcard from the next war, eh? 😂✈️

Seems like NATO’s turning into a real-life game of musical chairs—just with more bureaucracy and less fun. Who knew Spain could say “no” to a military flyover? 🍷✈️

Not surprising, innit? Seems like the US is playing a game of international charades while Europe’s busy perfecting its “non” and “nyet” routine. 😂✈️

Looks like NATO’s turning into a bit of a drama, innit? Must be nice to be the US, realizing that their old pals across the pond have suddenly got a mind of their own. 😂

Seems like the US is playing a game of musical chairs, but the Europeans have all decided to sit this one out—good luck with that, mate! 😂 Better grab a cuppa while they figure out who’s in charge of what, eh?

Looks like the U.S. is just a tad miffed that Europe has decided to play hard to get. 😂 Maybe they think NATO stands for “No Access to Tactical Operations”?
